Amazon has reduced prices Berserker: The Complete 1997 TV Series Get it while you can; get this wonderful animation on Blu-ray for just $37.39 (originally $60). The Blu-ray set launched earlier this year and has remained popular ever since. Previous deals have resulted in Amazon selling out, so you may want to grab the latest deal while you can. Berserk fans can compare the 1997 series with Golden Age Arc Commemorative Editionthe show was remastered and re-edited into 13 episodes and launched earlier this week (August 27).

“Berserker” is adapted from the legendary manga by Kentaro Miura and tells the story of Guts’ eternal battle with the forces of evil. A mix of dark fantasy and brutal violence, the animated series deviates somewhat from the source material but has been praised for its handling of the dark themes of Miura’s work. This is the limited edition steelbook version of “Berserk”, containing all 25 episodes of the series in high definition. Japanese and English dubs are available on the disc and include all the extras from the previous releases.
Many years later, a new Berserker anime would start from scratch and be a more faithful adaptation. This 2012-2013 film trilogy is not quite As good as the 1997 series is as it mixes beautiful 2D animation with CGI, the results are mixed, but they’re still worth watching. The Golden Age Arc Commemorative Edition re-edits the remake of the film into 13 episodes. The Blu-ray version includes English and Japanese dubs, and for extras, you’ll get text-free opening and closing songs on both discs.
If you want to read the original comic, deluxe edition is the way to go. All 14 beautiful hardcover collections are available on Amazon, with many discounted by $15 to $20.
