The blockchain-based battle royale game “Off the Grid” has launched an early access version. Players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC can purchase the game through the Epic Games Store.
Developed by Gunzilla Games, Off the Grid introduces a new dimension to the battle royale genre by integrating blockchain technology.
Although the full functionality of the game is not yet available, this early build allows players to preview its unique game mechanics and blockchain-based economy.
What is off-grid?
Off the Grid is a dystopian battle royale shooter that places players in a large city map where teams must compete against each other to survive.
The game has similarities to popular games such as apex legend and fort night, But a unique mechanic has been introduced where players can equip and swap robot limbs during matches, providing new abilities and tactical options.
The game also aims to stand out with its narrative-driven approach, with over 60 hours of story content mapped out under the guidance of co-founder, popular film director and screenwriter Neill Blomkamp. District 9 and Guy.
What can we expect from Early Access?
The early access version of the game includes a large city map and a 60-player mode called “Extraction Royale” in which squads of three compete against each other. Although the complete blockchain economy is not yet online, players can earn GUN tokens by completing in-game goals.
The GUN token is built on Gunzilla’s Avalanche subnet and, once fully launched, is expected to power the in-game economy, allowing for the minting and trading of NFTs such as weapons and equipment. At this stage, players can only access a limited set of features, with full blockchain integration planned for a future update.
As Off the Grid enters early access, Gunzilla Games plans to expand its content, including new game modes, maps, and full implementation of the GUN token on the Avalanche mainnet.
