Besides Bandai, which company will have a bigger footprint at New York Comic Con 2024? I think not. Bandai was a big presence at NYCC ’24, with its various subsidiaries taking up not just the aisles but blocks of the show floor. The floor closest to the main entrance is basically Bandai Castle. “You can sell figures to anyone, but we invest more in building memories and experiences,” a Bandai staff member explained to me.
There are also plenty of experiences, from photo opportunities with Godzilla and Ultraman, to different booth activities that make fans feel like they are super-powered heroes. But surrounding it all is a plethora of action figures and models, many of which won’t appear on store shelves until next year. “This is very much a pre-order business,” a Bandai official told me. Here are some toys and figures from Bandai that you can look forward to now and next year.

But Bandai Region’s biggest success is undoubtedly their gashapon machines. There are more than 200 small vending machines on the show floor, and they are always crowded with people from the time they open to the time they close. Fans who get their fill of gacha can find more at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey and BOOKOFF in Massapequa, New York.
Stay tuned for more coverage of NYCC ’24 beat.
