Wake up! Baldur’s Gate 3’s super-powerful Patch 7 is finally here, bringing everything Larian has previously announced or teased – like those extra evil endings and mod support – as part of its “over 1,000 fixes and part of “improvement”.
Thanks to previous community updates from the studio, we already knew that the patch would bring a bunch of new cutscenes to help “provide a darker conclusion to your most sinister game,” as well as the official modding tools that people have been waiting for. Well, they were teased at the PAX panel over the weekend that they were coming, and now they’re here.

As stated in the longer patch notes/community update post than War and Peace, the main highlights of the patch are as follows:
- “Evil Ending: An all-new cinematic ending to a truly evil game.”
- Larian’s mod manager “allows you to browse, install and use community-created mods within the game itself.”
- Improved split-screen gameplay, Larian writes: “When playing split-screen gameplay, the two halves of the screen will now dynamically merge together when the player characters are close to each other in the game, and dynamically split back when the characters move apart. This revamp comes alongside a host of other improvements and refinements to improve the overall split-screen experience.
- A modding kit for the game, which runs as a free standalone application on Steam. “To help you set up supported mods, we will be releasing a community update in the near future that will detail how to create and use supported mods, so be sure to keep an eye out for that,” Larian wrote .
In addition to the big guns, there are a lot of changes to Honor Mode combat, with some new legendary moves and enough gameplay tweaks/bug fixes to fill an entire novel. As of now, the patch is only available on PC, and Larian explained that it will be released to cosole and Mac in October due to some additional checks.
As Larian previously revealed, Patch 7 won’t be the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3, but we appear to be entering the game’s sprint, with the studio writing: “We have more patches coming. Preparing for Baldur’s Gate 3 will include cross-platform play and a photo mode, as well as other fixes and updates, but as Swen said at last week’s PAX West panel in Seattle (our final look at Baldur’s Gate 3 as stated in a live symposium).
If you’re looking for the latest news on Baldur’s Gate 3, some of the game’s developers recently discussed breaking their own cinematic camera rules to show you the goblins’ feet up close, which you’ll no doubt be craving.
