Metaphor: “ReFantazio” hasn’t been released yet, but players have discovered some performance issues with the PC version of the game.
Earlier this week, some PC players began reporting performance issues with the Metaphor: ReFantazio demo, with some experiencing more severe issues than others. This doesn’t seem to be a completely comprehensive issue, as not everyone is facing the same issue, but developer Atlus has commented on the matter, and that’s enough. “Thank you to everyone who downloaded and played ReFantazio – Prologue Demo!” the developer wrote on Twitter. “We are aware of an optimization issue on Steam and are actively working to resolve it.

Atlus continued in another tweet: “Once released, we will share updates, including patch release information, via our official social media platforms.” “We greatly appreciate your patience and continued support of Metaphor: ReFantazio!” game ‘s release date is currently set for October 11th, which is less than a few weeks away. Apparently, it didn’t take a lot of time to fix the performance issues on the PC version, so if you’re planning on playing the game on PC, I wouldn’t necessarily expect the game to run 100% smoothly on launch day.

In fact, if you’re planning to delve into the upcoming JRPG, I’d even recommend holding off on the PC version, as the game’s director Katsura Hashino has said it will be as long as Persona 5. For context, the game will take around 100 hours to complete just the main story, meaning Metaphor: ReFantazio will be just as much of a commitment. Thankfully the game looks pretty good and feels like a cross between the popular titles like Persona and Shin Megami Tensei – now we’ll just have to wait and see if it actually lives up to those expectations.
