James Gunn’s Superman movie is still mostly under wraps, but it seems like a certain super-puppy will make an appearance somewhere along the line.
As of now, we really don’t know much about Superman (formerly Superman: Legacy) from a story perspective other than what we’ve seen from set photos. The photos do raise some questions, though, especially one of the dogs dressed as Superman (granted, it’s likely just a crew member’s dog). But it looks like the #1 superdog, Krypto, might actually appear in the movie. As spotted by Collider, Superman comics writer Mark Waid recently appeared on the Capes and Lunatics podcast, where he talked about a variety of comics-related things. In it, Wade seemingly inadvertently revealed that Krypton will appear in the movie, although he didn’t mention the character’s name.

“I love Gunn’s generally reverential approach to this kind of thing, and you know the reverence, but not taking it too seriously,” Wade said. “I mean, there’s a dog in the movie, a dog with a hot “I don’t know of any other super-powered dogs with heat vision that could appear in a Superman movie, so I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Wade is talking about Krypton here. If you’re wondering what Wade’s credentials are, he’s worked on a ton of DC comics (and Marvel comics, too), including the 2022 series Batman/Superman: World’s Finest, so it’s safe to say he knows what he’s doing say what.
Superman is currently set to be released on July 11, 2025, so you still have the best time of the year waiting for it to hit theaters. Luckily, there shouldn’t be any delays, as Gunn tends to avoid reshoots by doing one simple thing: homework.
