DC is speeding up the casting process a bit for its new cinematic universe, with both the Green Lantern series and Supergirl making progress.
There have been a lot of rumors about how to play Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern show, with early reports stating that Josh Brolin was approached for the role, and later reports claiming that he turned it down. However, Deadline reported earlier this week that Kyle Chandler, known for series like “Bloodline” and movies like “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” is currently in talks to play Hal. He’s not 100% confirmed yet, but it sounds like he’s the most likely person to take on the role. If he’s cast, it would be the first time the character has appeared in a live-action DC movie since 2011’s live-action DC movie starring Ryan Reynolds (and we all know how that happened).

The series will also feature new Green Lantern member John Stewart, whose casting is still ongoing, as the two must solve an Earthly mystery involving a murder in America’s heartland. The Lantern was only greenlit in June, although it had been in production for a while before that, so don’t expect it to be released anytime soon, especially considering casting hasn’t been completed yet.
One of the DCU casting news we can say for sure, though, is that Mattias Schoeneas (The Danish Girl) will now be playing the villain in Supergirl . This will apparently be the first live-action Supergirl movie, based on the character from 2022’s Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow . In this comic, the main villain is a character named Yellow Mountain Krem, who kills the father of a young alien girl, who in turn seeks help from Supergirl. As early as April, “I, Tonya” director Craig Gillespie was invited to direct the project, which is currently expected to be released on June 26, 2026.
