Boy, things have definitely taken a turn since the last episode of Ark .

As a series that prides itself on putting its characters in the spotlight, the writers are flexing their creative muscles.

There’s quite a bit of change in every episode of Ark Season 2.

“Another You” filled the show with laughs and heartfelt moments.

However, it seems the show’s producers are looking to cover as many genres as possible.

Museum of Death is definitely the right title for this episode because this is a horror show!

They left FTL and ended up in Event Horizon.

Ark isn’t afraid to explore the creepier side of space

“Ark” is a series that likes to test the waters in different ways to capture the audience’s attention. Many times, these ideas can keep things fresh.

For an episode like “Anomalies,” these ideas don’t exactly lend themselves to more interesting episodes.

Still, the electric space tentacles in Ark Season 2 Episode 3 were pretty fun. The dialogue and writing seemed to take a back seat to that, though.

However, Ark Season 2 Episode 5 proves that this isn’t a one-note wonder, as the story manages to be creepy in the best possible way.

I have to say, Ark is not a horror story series I want to watch, which is why I was wide-eyed and nervous as the crew of Ark One explored Ark Three.

Hats off to the creative team, because this episode was insane.

Then there’s Eva’s brother, who not only has a few screws loose, but is clearly missing some.

My only complaint about this episode is that Bryce keeps his shirt on.

Oh well. Better luck next time.

Ark One is a brave crew, each with a story to tell

The crew of Ark One began to fall off their course. Garnet is moving in a more fun and casual direction.

It took her an entire season to solidify her status as captain, and now we’re starting to see the calm after the storm.

If you couldn’t see the chemistry between Spencer and Sharon (Krysty Burke), you’d be blind. Ryan may be a little blind now, though, as he gets caught up in what-ifs about his father.

Rhys Rich as Lieutenant Spencer LaneRhys Rich as Lieutenant Spencer Lane
    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

As far as character arcs go, this isn’t the most exciting direction for his story.

Hopefully the writers can wrap this up, as Spencer’s emotional return will slow down the pace.

If there’s one thing a show like “Ark” can’t do, it’s slow down the pace. It’s easy to lose momentum when a space odyssey focuses on human characters.

Ryan could find something to do for Angus since the Fifteeners took over his job.

As we learned from TV Fanatic’s exclusive interview with stars Ryan Adams and Stacey Read, showrunners are hoping to take Angus in a new direction.

Starting with the recovery of his eye, we then see in “Another You” who he could have become.

Diana Bermudez as Kimi, Richard Fleishman as Lieutenant James Bryce, Pavle Jerenik as Felix StricklandDiana Bermudez as Kimi, Richard Fleishman as Lieutenant James Bryce, Pavle Jerenik as Felix Strickland
    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

I’m all for Angus being confident in his new character, as long as he doesn’t turn into that asshole from a parallel universe.

Kelly has had enough of the stupidity, chaos and chaos

When it comes to character changes, the writers are happy with Kelly.

First, the character shows signs of remorse for his past actions. She then develops a death wish and attempts to jump out of the airlock.

Now, since another cat gave her control of the implant, she’s leaning toward a “posthuman” state.

In my review of the previous episode, I said that I hoped Kelly would make the right decision now that she can make her own decisions.

Christie Burke as Lt. Sharon GarnetChristie Burke as Lt. Sharon Garnet
    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

Her first mistake was to attack Dr. Marsh. On the one hand, he is the most prominent voice in her camp. Granted, he was responsible for the implants in the first place.

But everyone now knows that Kelly has full control over her implants, except for Ted Lasso’s Marsh, played by Judran Malkovich.

Hopefully the writers have something incredibly epic planned for her now that they’ve dropped the other shoe.

No matter what happens next, I have a strong feeling Kelly will have her sights set on her mother.

When William Truster told Kelly the truth about her father, he may or may not have realized he was poking a bear.

There are a number of ways the series could continue Kelly’s storyline. The crew of Ark One either decided to help her or decided she was too dangerous not to be kept contained.

Christie Burke as Lt. Sharon Garnet, Pavle Jerinic as Felix Strickland, Stacey Reed Stacey Read as Alicia Nevins, Tiana Upcheva as Eva Markovic, Richard Fleischman Fleeshman as Lieutenant James Bryce, Reece Ritchie as Lieutenant Spencer Lane, and Diana Bermudez as KimiChristie Burke as Lt. (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

Either way, it’ll be exciting, especially if Kylie’s other arm gets an upgrade as well.

There’s danger in the water on the Ark, but not every fin means it’s a shark

However, Kelly is far from the shining star in “Museum of Death.” Eva makes more waves in one episode than she does in the entire series.

As I said above, the writers seem to be working hard to give the main cast their own stories.

It’s a great idea, considering the characters are all so different, and taking advantage of that is the way to keep the series moving forward.

Still, all this new information is worth whipping.

Tiana Upcheva as Eva MarkovichTiana Upcheva as Eva Markovich
    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

Could Eva be a spy or a sleeper cell? Is this a dollhouse situation?

Here, I think the only thing we have to worry about is the XV.

Still, Kimi may want to try strategy. Subtle as shotgun, she asked Griff in Serbian about Eva’s conversation with her brother.

There are definitely dangers in the water, but not every fin means it’s a shark.

Once Garnett gets wind of all these plots and conspirators, we can say goodbye to her random character.

As creative as the writers of Ark are, I’m sure they’ll find a way to make things interesting.

Richard Fleishman as Lt. James BriceRichard Fleishman as Lt. James Brice
    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

I’d love to do more standalone series like “Another You” or a creepy show like “Museum of Death.”

They were a fearless crew aboard Ark One, but with the new observation deck, things started to become clearer, and the starry sky before them was vast and full of possibility.

Also, it would be great if they could find a home planet, but then we probably wouldn’t have a series.

What do you think Kimi and Fifteen have planned?

Which direction do you think the show will take Kelly?
