There’s nothing like “The Ark” on TV these days.

If you want laser guns and weird alien species, they’re a dime a dozen.

However, it’s rare to find a science fiction series that allows viewers to experience the characters’ feelings and emotions firsthand.

With the cast still recovering from the devastation of Ark’s first season, we’re already feeling the full emotional vibe.

Specifically, Kelly’s trial scenes in Kill or Be Killed are filled with rage, confusion, and failure.

Sharon Garnett will definitely earn the captaincy this season.

The Ark is science-first and fiction-first in the best way possible

The biggest difference between “Ark” and many other sci-fi shows is its continued focus on character.

Many other shows would sacrifice dialogue and character growth for the sake of an “alien of the week” format.

Thankfully, the Ark series puts most of its writing into creating believable characters.

This is exactly what makes for a fantastic space odyssey.

Dean Devlin (The Librarians) and Jonathan Glasner (Falling Skies) took a chance on a second season and turned it into gold.

Of course, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of wacky monsters the writers can come up with.

But it cannot replace the connection, chemistry, and ultimately chaos of living in such close quarters.

I know the Ark is a huge ship, but seeing the same people every day can be claustrophobic.

On the plus side, no one has to worry about heavy traffic on their daily commute.

Oh, Captain, my Captain, what on earth are we going to do now?

Lord, Captain Sharon Garnett definitely got more than she bargained for this season of Ark.

First, she must survive the destruction of planetary debris hitting Ark One.

This happened after helping the infamous Ark Fifteen, a team not exactly known for their friendliness.

Even with the dubious help of Maddox, Garnett will have a hard time getting out of trouble.

    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

But we don’t blame the crew of Ark Fifteen for wanting to jump ship.

From what Maddox’s security chief heard, the situation on their original ship wasn’t entirely pleasant.

But now, Captain Garnett has a crew she needs but doesn’t know what to do.

The lady can’t catch a break, but from TV Fanatic’s exclusive interview with the cast, we know Garnet will be at least a little more casual and comfortable.

We can’t say for sure what form this “comfort” will take, as Christy Burke would rather fans experience it for themselves.

With the Juno program revealed, there may be opportunities for some hilarious pairings.

Rhys Rich as Lieutenant Spencer LaneRhys Rich as Lieutenant Spencer Lane
    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

I’m betting on Spencer Lane to match up with this great captain.

Before we can think about relaxing, however, Sharon has a new crew member she has to review and Maddox’s daughter is going through a mess of trauma.

Most importantly, she must find a way to get to a suitable planet for her team to call home.

Although, it’s not that I don’t want the intrepid crew of Ark One to find a home, but given the show’s title, how will this translate to the Syfy series?

Bigger numbers don’t make for a better crew if Ark One can’t trust them

Speaking of the new crew, how much do we trust these “15” (as they’re called)?

Diana Bermudez as KimiDiana Bermudez as Kimi
    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

I’m a little skeptical, especially since the “Trojan Horse” arc would make for an exciting story.

Of course, on the one hand, the captain has more personnel to help Ark One.

As Eva says, the ship is certainly in desperate need of love, but things will probably get worse before they get better.

Things that seem too good to be true usually turn out to be true in one way or another.

The other shoe tends to drop a lot.

That being said, we do hope that some of these fifteen are good eggs, especially Dr. Marsh, played by Jadran Malkovich (Ted Russo).

    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

Given Dr. Sanjeevni Kabir’s condition, Ark-1 will need as much medical assistance as possible.

Did you see how messed up Angus was after the season 1 finale?

Creepy Kelly can’t catch a break on Ark One, Three or Fifteen

RELATED: Snake Queen Season 2 Episode 1 Review: The Grand Tour

If anyone wishes Dr. Marsh didn’t go anywhere, it’s Kelly.

Kill or Be Killed reveals that maybe Kelly isn’t the psychopath we know him to be.

First, a bomb was found inside her, and now we know she has a brain implant.

Samantha Glassner as Kelly FowlerSamantha Glassner as Kelly Fowler
    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

Why? Because her crazy and violent mother put them inside her as a workaround for cloning.

If anyone needs to have their brain checked, it’s Evelyn Maddox.

Not only did she turn Kelly into a weapon that could take orders against her will, but now Kelly has all this blood and guilt on her hands.

The writers of “The Ark” know how to throw curveballs at the audience, because who would have thought we’d be trying to sympathize with Angus’ attackers here?

Hopefully Kelly can go on to some kind of heroic path.

I can’t imagine anything else that would make William Trust forgive Kelly for killing Helena.

Pavle Jelinek as Felix StricklandPavle Jelinek as Felix Strickland
    (Alexander Letik/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY)

At least Felix now knows she wasn’t responsible for his husband’s death.

Since Ark Season 1, Episode 12, it’s been one dilemma, disaster, or destruction after another.

However, I have a feeling that the more important priorities are for the crew.

The first time we saw the electric tentacle creature was in the trailer for Ark Season 2.

Now, we’ve seen it debut in the final moments of “Kill or Be Killed.”

I’m not sure if you’d fight something made of pure electricity, but it would certainly involve space science.

Ryan Adams as Angus MedfordRyan Adams as Angus Medford
    (Ark Television Holdings Inc./SYFY)

While this isn’t great news for the cast, it will be an exciting episode.

Regardless, the next episode will likely see the show return to the “disaster of the week” format it used in season one.

What are your thoughts and feelings about Kelly and her multiple implants?

Do you think the introduction of this electric monster will be the start of more space creatures?
