The History of Unverified Cryptocurrency Claims
This isn’t the first time rumors about cryptocurrency have surfaced in GTA 6. Similar claims have surfaced in previous years following X posts and leaked “Buy BTC” trailers, but these rumors have not been confirmed.
In late 2022, the company banned the use of cryptocurrencies and NFTs on GTA 5 servers run by players, although Take-Two Interactive has explored the blockchain space through the acquisition of Zynga, which launched blockchain games on Ethereum. But there’s no indication that this will extend to upcoming titles.
The game is expected to be released in 2025, and any future announcements will shed light on its features. As of now, there is no confirmed information about cryptocurrency functionality in GTA 6.
