Archie Comics Announcing a new special program, Archie’s great Halloween show. The comic tells a new storyline that includes a new villain in the world of Sabrina, Mother Striga! The character first appeared in Sabrina’s Annual Event Now we follow a storyline that makes this Halloween spectacle the second part of that story, albeit a standalone one.
This is a big deal because Archie Comics doesn’t usually do crossover comics, but this was too big not to do, especially since Sabrina’s current big bad, Amber Nightstone, sold out years ago made her debut novel, and Mama Striga was her boss!

We had great success with the introductions to Amber Nightstone and Unholy Trinity – Amber’s debut sold out immediately. Sabrina hasn’t really faced a big villain like this before, so this Halloween we wanted to up the ante and introduce the mother of all witches, the one who gives all other witches a bad name, Mother Striga . I started sharing the idea with Steve Butler and Ian Flynn respectively, and Ian created a perfect story. Steven had already decided on the character’s look before the script arrived.
Great characters always have a role they can play, either as an enemy, as a rival, or as a friend. Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty, Archie and Reggie, even Betty and Veronica. Sabrina has so many characters, it would be best to find a new character strong enough to join the cast.
