At least two Russian creators have posted videos in which they unbox what appears to be the next-generation 14-inch MacBook Pro base model equipped with an M4 chip. Apple has yet to announce the laptop, which is rumored to launch in November.
weekend, BloombergMark Gurman points to a video posted by the Russian YouTube channel Wylsacom. He noted that the packaging looks identical to the M3 MacBook Pro, and even Apple changes the tablecloth on the label every year.
In the 13-minute video, the host sets up the laptop and runs some Geekbench tests with a 2022 MacBook Air. Based on the times and CPU scores shown in the video, these appear to be the benchmarks. Overall, the MacBook Pro shown in the video lives up to expectations for a model with improved specs but no major cosmetic changes.
Then, this afternoon, Gurman highlighted another Russian YouTuber, Romancev768, who also posted a video purportedly of an M4 MacBook Pro. Like the first video, it comes with last year’s wallpaper in the box. But that includes the laptop’s “About this” screen, which shows it has an M4 chip.
Gurman called the potential leak “unprecedented,” a sentiment echoed by leaker ShrimpApplePro, who wrote that “some sellers” claim to have 200 MacBook Pros in stock. “This may be the largest warehouse leak I have ever seen,” they wrote. ShrimpApplePro also posted some apparently leaked 14-inch MacBook Pro packaging images last month:
