Apple has released the iPhone 16, the first-generation phone built specifically for generative AI.
iPhone 16 is “built for Apple Intelligence.” Equipped with the new A18 chip. Features new camera controls. New 48MP Fusion camera. Macro photography. Ultra-durable third-generation ceramic shielding. Action button. Battery life is greatly improved. Five bright colors.
The A18 chip was created to handle the extra power required to handle AI features, and it’s said to be 30% faster than the chip in the iPhone 15.
Enhanced camera technology includes a 48-megapixel camera and ultrawide camera, as well as a redesigned Photos app with artificial intelligence capabilities.
As for artificial intelligence, Apple has been using it with Siri for years, but this new push revolves around generative AI they’re calling “Apple Intelligence,” which is a more sophisticated form of AI that can be based on big data Set to create new content.
iPhone 16 includes enhanced Siri integrated with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. These tools let you rewrite, proofread, and summarize text on the iPhone app; and the new Image Playground (available as a standalone app as well as a feature in other apps like Messages), which lets users create “fun ” Generate artificial intelligence images.
Apple Intelligence also lets you create custom emojis and summarize email messages by entering text prompts. Apple Intelligence beta functionality will be available in an October software update,
The iPhone 16 model starts at $799 (6.1-inch screen) and the 16 Plus (6.7-inch screen) starts at $899, both with 128 GB of memory. These will be available starting September 20, 2024.
