According to Apple, the sound quality of the two new AirPods 4 models is significantly improved over the third generation. They also come with new features, such as switching to USB-C. The ANC version also has speakers built into the reduced charging case, making Apple’s Find My trackers more effective, and wireless charging works with Qi and Apple Watch chargers. Meanwhile, the new AirPods Max get a few new colors and also move to USB-C, but not much else.
We haven’t tested the new AirPods beyond a very brief hands-on experience, but we’ll publish a full review soon. Until then, if you want to buy a new pair of AirPods right now, here are all the links and information you need to pre-order them.
You can pre-order the new AirPods 4 directly from Apple for $129, while the AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation (ANC) are also available for pre-order from Apple for $179. Both will be released on September 20th.
As for the new AirPods Max, you can pre-order them directly from Apple ahead of their release on September 20, in midnight, blue, purple, orange, and starlight colors for $549.
