I can’t remember the last time I was excited about a charging station until I checked out Anker’s new product at a briefing in New York. The company showed off a few new wireless solutions, but the MagGo 3-in-1 Foldable Wireless Charging Station stood out to me. As the name suggests, it can charge up to three devices simultaneously and is fully foldable, giving it a completely portable form factor.
I folded and unfolded the charger a few times (the first few times for testing purposes and then a few more times because it was fun) and it worked as expected. You just need to place the two ends of the charger one by one into the center. When fully folded, the charger curls into a small ball that’s small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
It supports QI2 15W fast charging, suitable for charging your Apple Watch and iPhone at the same time. A five-foot-long Type-C cable charges the wireless charger.
Anker’s budget audio sub-brand Soundcore has also launched some new products: Space One Pro and Aerofit 2. Priced at $200, the headphones feature what Soundcore claims is “the best noise cancellation yet.” Apparently, it works with a four-level noise reduction system. They are 1) a total of six microphones on both earcups 2) extended acoustic chamber 3) adaptive ANC 3.0 algorithm and 4) high-sensitivity drivers. Most of these are standard ANC features on all audio peripherals that offer noise cancellation, so I wouldn’t be interested in these headphones until I test them myself.
Anker promises an ergonomic headband with soft earcups and a foldable design thanks to the new FlexiCurve construction – we’ll have more to come after we’ve spent some time with the headphones .
The Aerofit 2 are the company’s new running-focused open-back headphones. They have a hook-like design that wraps around your ears for a snug fit. For $100, these headphones also offer wireless charging. It is said that through fast charging, it can last for four hours after charging in five minutes.
I think JBL’s new portable speakers are cheap, at $50 and $80, but if you’re just looking for an entry-level portable budget speaker, Soundcore’s new $25 Select 4 Go is much cheaper. It has three major features with JBL’s new series. For starters, it’s fully waterproof with an IP67 rating, comes with a little loop handle so it can be attached to your bag, and offers Auracast functionality so you can pair two Select 4 Go speakers for great stereo sound. For a $25 speaker to offer Auracast functionality is surprising, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it compares to JBL’s recent releases.
