Animoca Brands has announced a new partnership with Sony Block Solutions Labs to develop a blockchain-based identity infrastructure and support anime-themed project on Soneium – Sony’s Ethereum 2-layer blockchain.
The collaboration introduces Anime ID, a decentralized identity system established by San Frantokyo, a contributor to the Anime Foundation. It will be the first implementation of the identity tool for MOCA networks on Soneium. MOCA Network will enable these features through its AIR SDK (Account, Identity, Reputation Software Development Kit), which provides account management and credential verification across applications.
The partnership also includes a cultural component: a series of anime-related activities led by San Frantokyo to attract the anime community to gain Soneium and explore blockchain-based experiences.

What will this partnership bring?
Under the protocol, the MOCA network will integrate its identity infrastructure into Soneium starting with the anime ID. The AIR SDK will allow users to maintain a single identity and reputation record on different applications, while also allowing developers on SONEIM to issue and verify user credentials.
“By integrating the identity infrastructure of the MOCA network, we are not just enhancing the entertainment experience; we are creating a seamless digital ecosystem,” said Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands. “The partnership will give Soneium users a unified digital identity, bridging anime, gaming and blockchain technology.”
Anime ID will act as a decentralized identifier system and reputation layer, supporting features such as embedded accounts, persistent identities, and cross-platform engagement. These features are designed to make it easier for users to navigate and interact with various applications without the need to provide separate configuration files or verification steps for each service.
“By integrating the Air SDK and anime ID from MOCA Network into the Soneium and Anime Ca brands that launch anime-inspired cultural campaign, our goal is to join blockchain on anime fans around the world, enabling them to collaborate with emotion, create and blend the world.”
Meanwhile, San Frantokyo will launch an anime-themed ad campaign aimed at increasing Soneium’s user engagement. These events are expected to connect the anime community to blockchain-based projects, although specific details about the event or participation in IPS have not been announced yet.

What’s next for the Animoca brand?
This collaboration marks the continuation of Animoca Brands’ strategy, which builds the infrastructure for digital identities across blockchain ecosystems. One of the company’s major projects, MOCA Network, aims to work across multiple blockchains and support unified identity, asset ownership and reputation tracking. The MOCA network is powered by the $MOCA token, which is used to support authentication, data storage and network governance.
The Animoca brand continues to expand its influence in blockchain gaming, decentralized identity and digital ownership through partnerships and investments. The company has built a large portfolio of Web3-related projects and actively developed infrastructures designed to support decentralized technologies.
The anime ID or the specific release date for the upcoming campaign about Soneium has not been confirmed, but both companies say development is already underway.
