Anime Limited has launched a home video version of the classic Macross game, including the unmissable Blu-ray Ultimate Edition – pre-orders open on June 6th!
Glasgow, 25 May 2024 – Anime Limited, under license from BIGWEST, are pleased to reveal their release plans Macross Plus Ultimate Editionbringing this classic show to Blu-ray for the first time in English-speaking territories outside of Japan.
It’s a landmark moment for fans of a saga that spans decades Macross The beloved 1995 classic film series will be available to fans on Blu-ray in English for the first time, along with its original four-part OVA presentation. The film was co-created by BIGWEST and Studio Nue, with Masashi Kawamori (“Macross”, “Escaflowne”) serving as executive director. It is BIGWEST’s directorial debut. Shinichiro Watanabe (cowboy bebop, Samurai Champloo), as co-director, working with the incomparable composer for the first time Yoko Kanno (cowboy bebop, escafone).
In keeping with the importance of this release, Anime Limited is offering Macross Plus Their signature Ultimate Edition treatment, featuring luxurious and high-quality releases that will become the centerpiece of any discerning anime fan’s collection.
Packaged in a large hard slipcase adorned with some of the game’s most iconic visuals, this Ultimate Edition includes a massive and comprehensive hardcover book documenting the history, production and creative efforts behind it Macross Plus – From interviews with the creators to character designs, backgrounds, and key animation artwork, here’s what Macross Plus Because you’ve never seen it before.
The set also includes a series of nine art cards celebrating all of the game’s key visuals, as well as an A4 “Concert Promotion” poster that pays homage to virtual pop icon Sharon Apple.
This attention to detail also extends to the contents of the disc itself – as well as the inclusion of both the film and OVA versions Macross PlusHailed as a “visual masterpiece” by Forbes, these discs also include a wealth of options and bonus content for fans to fully explore the work. Features on the disc include the full Bandai Visual dub of the OVA version of the show, as well as the Manga Entertainment dub of OVA #4, while the movie version offers Neil Nadelman’s Manga Entertainment subtitles and Bandai Visual’s subtitle options. With tons of other extras, including interviews with Shoji Kawamori and special effects supervisor Ichiro Itano, this is the ultimate Macross Plus Bringing a consistent viewing experience to fans old and new.
In North America, Macross Plus Ultimate Edition will be available exclusively through the Crunchyroll store, while UK customers will be able to purchase the product exclusively from the AllTheAnime.com store. Pre-orders for this edition will be available at Thursday, June 6 5pm (BST) / 12pm (EST) / 9am (PST). In France, customers will be able to buy exclusive products Macross Plus The Ultimate French Edition is limited to 100 units and available for pre-order through our AllTheAnime.fr online store.
