New visuals have also been announced for the 2025 anime
TV animation staff of and Anti-Fujiof Death of a Witch: The Story of a Thousand Tears of Joy (Aru Majo ga Shinu Made: Owari’s words to Haita’s beginning) light novel series announced the anime’s third “scenario vision” and a new cast on Friday. The new visual features the “Oseworld Festival,” an annual festival in Lapis Town that Meg enjoys with new character Sophie.
The newly announced cast is Read Gong Hina Playing Sophie Hayter, the “Witch of Blessings,” performing at festivals across the country.
The animation will be released in 2025.
Animation stars:
Jun Shibukawa (The god of destruction sits next to me, between sky and sea, Tamer) is directing animation EMT squared. Yuuki Shizuku (Animation “Anortolia’s Smile” character design assistant, Atelier Lysa: Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout Chief Animation Director) is adapting Anti-Fujianimated character design. Keiichiro Daichi (Adachi and Shimamura, Typical quintuplets) is overseeing the series script.
Yen Press is releasing the novel in English and describes the story:
On her seventeenth birthday, apprentice witch Meg learns that she only has one year left to live. Her teacher, the long-lived witch Faustus, explains that the only way to lift the death curse is to collect tears of joy and plant the seeds of life. To find them, Meg must leave her sheltered life and head into the outside world. There will be many encounters, partings, friendships, and of course many tears. Meg will learn that the most important lessons for witches are bright, sweet, and a little heart-wrenching.
