Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2 has been incredibly successful, so much so that its developers are already considering a sequel and DLC.
Even though the first game was released over a decade ago, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2 has performed so well in its own right that it’s become one of the hottest games of the year. Of course, there are online components and more updates, and if you start thinking about DLC, especially if you’re thinking about a sequel, you might be getting a little ahead of yourself. However, in a new interview with IGN, Saber Interactive chief creative officer Tim Willits said that the game director is already considering both things, even though the game has only just come out.

“Our game director Dmitry Grigorenko came up with some story ideas that could be DLC or a sequel,” Willetts said. “We’re really just taking a breather. There’s still two weeks to go. We just need the dust to settle. But I can confidently say that we won’t let our Warhammer fans down in the future. This was such a success! I know it’s obvious thing, but hopefully we can be committed to Space Marine content for the long term.
That’s obviously still some time away, but Willetts does sound very keen on working with publishers Focus Entertainment and Games Workshop to make it happen. “We just have to figure it out. I’d love to do that, yes,” Willetts said. “Yes, yes! There are many different factions…and there are other chapters, which are also very interesting…”
This will obviously excite those loyal Space Marines out there, but again, game development takes a long time these days, so stick with the current game for now.
Our own Connor is a huge fan of the game, giving it 4/5 stars in his review and writing: “Starfighter 2 is a triumph of gaming. It’s a must-buy for Warhammer fans Definitely recommended as one of the cracking gateway drugs for serious gaming enthusiasts.
