Astronauts on the International Space Station have a lot of serious things to deal with every day. But even astronauts need time to rest and relax. If they want, they can watch a movie or TV show. What is the choice at 250 feet above the earth? Surprisingly good, if you can believe it.
Back in 2016, Gizmodo submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to NASA to watch movies and TV shows aboard the International Space Station. This list is a fun little peek into the life of the Astros during their downtime. So we recently decided to submit a new FOIA request to find out what new movies and TV shows might be out there.
Today, we start with a list of TV shows. what’s new? It turns out, a lot. Of course, there are also space-themed shows like Hulu first 2018 critically acclaimed alternative history drama with Sean Penn for all mankindand Comedy in the Trump Era space force. Other new series include boba fett books, crownand cooking shows Chopped.
Other science fiction series include Andor, star wars discovery, fireflyand battlestar galactica. But there have also been a lot of Earth situation comedies over the past few decades, e.g. friends, young sheldon, how I Met Your Mother, and big bang theory. Astros can also watch HBO shows such as Western world, true detectiveand game of Throneswait.
The International Space Station also has Apple shows, such as successionNetflix shows like stranger thingsand shows like Disney+ Loki. Typically, these shows seem to have released most of their episodes, but there are some exceptions. For example, the International Space Station carries seasons 1, 2, and 4 of Star Wars. mr robot. Where is Season 3? That part is unclear.
There are also documentary series such as When We Leave Earth: NASA’s Mission Since 2008, from earth to moon Since 1998, and The last days of World War II Since 2005.
