The final announcement at the closing ceremony was the venue for the next two Pokémon World Championships. The event will be held in Anaheim, California in 2025, and will stay in California and travel to San Francisco in 2026. The Pokémon Company has held the event every year since 2004 (except for 2020 and 2021, which were canceled due to the covid-19 pandemic), and it takes place almost entirely in the United States. With the 2013 World Championship taking place in Vancouver and the 2022 World Championship taking place in London, 2023 is surprisingly the only year the event will be held in Japan, the home country of The Pokémon Company. I’d be happy to see it return to the continental United States at least. Now I might actually be able to travel.
Finally, a series of light-hearted announcements this year because I know a lot of people want to hear more about Pokémon Legends: ZA. The Kalos-based RPG was announced at Pokémon Day Presents in February but was only teased via a concept trailer. So we still know very little about the game, other than that it will take place entirely in the Lumiose City metropolis.
