At the end of Season 6 of “All American,” Spencer and Olivia held a meaningful and touching wedding at James’ house.
While the season started off slow, it grew into one of the best since the show explored character arcs, relationship dynamics, and achieving career goals.
So, I’m not sure why The CW renewed America for a seventh season.
Now that Daniel Ezra (Spencer James) has decided to leave the show after season six, why did the network renew it? Spencer, Olivia, and their friends are characters we’re invested in over the course of six seasons.
It would be interesting if season seven involved watching Spencer and Olivia’s married life and his professional football career, or watching Jordan follow in his father’s footsteps and coach football.

But most fans have no interest in watching a new generation of teenagers compete across America.
Rebooting the show so late just doesn’t work, so why would The CW do it?
The All-American Season 6 Finale Has Come to a Successful End
Everyone in the vortex achieved their goals, let’s raise a glass to them. To be honest, I cried a lot during the last few episodes. Over the past six seasons, I’ve grown to care more and more about these characters.
After some setbacks, Spencer entered the draft and even became the Super Bowl MVP.
As the season shortened, all of these accomplishments felt a bit rushed, as did his engagement to Olivia.
However, we’re glad the show has added two more episodes to give viewers a look at the long-awaited wedding.
It’s also a big season for Jordan and Leila. They both work on grieving issues, and Leila realizes that her past issues with her mother make her fearful of marriage.
When they got married, they finally got into a better place, even though they longed for a place that felt like home. Laura gave them the Baker house, and Jordan was finally ready to coach the next generation.

With the help of the village, Arthur and Jamie find their footing as new parents. Working on the coast isn’t right for Arthur, so he turns to an old friend for help. He will return to coach at West Beverly with Coach Montez’s wife.
Jamie realizes his passion and helps Layla after she realizes she needs a reliable manager.
After falling into trouble, Coop emerged under the guidance of Laura Baker and attended multiple law schools. They may as well be heading east with Spencer and Olivia since she’s been accepted to Yale and patiently received an offer from the musical.
Does All American Need More Seasons?
For months, showrunner Nkechi Okoro-Carroll has hinted that she hopes to keep the All American series going for many more years.
She often cites the original Beverly Hills 90210 as her inspiration and follows a group of teenage friends on their journey to achieve lifelong goals and dreams.
She achieved that goal with her core team and now wants to reset the series by returning to high school. That’s not quite the same as “Beverly Hills, 90210,” which added cast members throughout the series but kept the core team.
Friday Night Lights did this in seasons 4 and 5 when they added new teens like Lucke and Becky and Vince and Jess, but they still had the Taylor family full time, along with Landry, Julie, Tim Riggins and Matt appear.

Now that The CW has canceled All American: Homecoming , it seems more likely that Homecoming Season 7 will follow another set of teens to continue the tradition. However, it would make more sense to end both at the same time.
How does restarting the series so late hurt them?
This reboot feels similar to what Once Upon a Time did when it was rebooted between seasons six and seven, with half the main cast leaving. Season 6 also ended successfully, and the core cast also concluded their journey.
Restarting a series with so many characters that viewers don’t know or care about usually doesn’t work because they watch the show because they’re invested in it.
The CW has already made the mistake of sending the core cast of Riverdale back to the 1950s in its final season rather than giving them a clean break.
The network appears to be making a similar mistake, as ratings are likely to drop with most of the main cast leaving. Many fans threatened not to watch if Spencer and Olivia weren’t on the show.
What role will Daniel Ezra play in future seasons of All American?
While showrunner Nkechi Okoro-Carroll assured viewers that Daniel Ezra and Spencer would be integral to future seasons, Ezra only agreed to return as a guest star.
He felt Spencer’s journey was complete and thanked Nkechi for writing two extra episodes so that Spencer and Olivia got their dream wedding and his send-off.
“Thanks to Nkechi and the writers, I got my wish. Season 6 is ‘Spencer Goodbye.’ I will miss him. I will miss our cast and crew,” Ezra said.
In the 100th episode of “The NFL,” Ezra directed a pivotal episode. He’s willing to get back on the other side of the camera and direct again.

He’s excited to watch the series from a different perspective. I wish I could share his passion, but Spencer’s heart makes this series what it is. It’s hard to imagine all of America without it.
Will other original cast members appear in Season 7?
Ever since Jordan (Michael Evans-Beilein) took over as coach at South Crenshaw, it seemed like he could carry on Billy’s legacy.
Now that Laura has left the home of Jordan and baker Leila, it looks like the series is setting them up to be the next in charge.
Maybe Jordan will discover the next All-American the way Billy discovered Spencer, and the Baker house will still be filled with Jordan and Lyla mentoring teenagers.
That could happen, especially since Arthur (Cody Christian) is coaching in Beverly. There will still be footage of the two friends coaching at rival schools.
While I still want season six to end, it would have been more gratifying to spend more time with Jordan, Lyla, and Arthur.
They all have great mentors, so watching them mentor the next generation is doable.
Over to you, all you American fanatics. Are you satisfied with the ending of Season 6?
