The team behind it is well-received Shadowman: Soul Eater miniseries, writer Ampad too and artist Sergio Monyeswill reunite in “Tale of Shadowman,” showing a completely different side of the fan-favorite antihero. Set in a utopian version of New Orleans, the magical capital of the world, Legend of the Shadowman tells the story of a detective trained in the art of voodoo as her city faces an unprecedented threat. With no other choice, she must summon a mysterious force called the Shadow People to help save New Orleans from the forces of the Deadlands in this stunning new role.
“This is a new era in the Valiant universe, and I’m honored to introduce a new version of Shadowman,” explained Ampadu. “The Shadow Man is an ancient god of unknown origin with no memory of his past. He drifts in the shadows of the Deadlands, a mysterious wasteland surrounding the utopian city of New Orleans. The impoverished residents both fear the Shadow Man , and rely on him to protect themselves from the greater evil that lurks in the Land of the Dead. If anyone needs help, they can summon the Shadow Man, but it comes at a great cost.
“For this new version of Shadowman, instead of designing a suit with belts, seams, and the usual vigilante elements, I went for more of a vivid silhouette look with white accents for contrast,” Ponce explained. “I wanted something reminiscent of a classic mask with two prongs, but not one piece of material, so I went for a more ghostly vibe there. The general concept was to make him feel more ghostly and scattered, just Like he was wearing a patch of darkness instead of a suit of clothing.

Valiant Beyond product line will continue to expand with new products launched in April XO Manowar #1 and New Omen #1 and other series and one-shots are in the works. New designs for Valiant Beyond characters crafted by artists Andres Ponce and Fernando Heinz Furukawa And draw inspiration from previous versions of the character, medieval armor, anime and science fiction movies.
“My initial idea for the new XO armor was to move away from the organic and muscular look of the classic design, as the new story places him in a more medieval setting,” Ponce continued. “I chose a tougher looking armor with plates or segmented sections mostly on the torso and leaving some muscle fibers in the chest. Then I added shoulder pads as big as possible! While re-doing When designing, I had classic 90s animation in mind, but as I received feedback on different sketches, I toned it down a bit.
