Quentin Tarantino holds Alec Baldwin partly responsible rust Set up shooting.
When Tarantino appeared on Tarantino recently, the subject of Baldwin accidentally shooting cinematographer Halina Hutchins after acquiring a prop gun loaded with live ammunition was brought up. this Club random On the podcast, Bill Maher joked that the actor was asked to host the Oscars but “couldn’t do it;” he was shooting.
Maher then asked the filmmakers: “How is this possible? [Baldwin’s] Fault – like you think he shot the cinematographer on purpose, or you think he didn’t shoot her on purpose. If he didn’t shoot her on purpose, that’s complete bullshit. Am I wrong?
“No,” Tarantino replied. “I think it’s fair to say that the armorer, the person who handed him the gun, is 90 percent responsible for what happens to that gun.” However, the director does believe that in this case “the actor has Ten percent responsibility”.
“It’s a gun. In a way, you’re a partner in responsibility,” Tarantino continued.
“What are you going to do to test it?” Maher wanted to know. “They show it to you,” the director said. “If there are steps that need to be taken, you take those steps and you do it through due diligence. And you know it’s fucking true.
Tarantino explained that if Baldwin “completed the steps he was supposed to go through, then he [should know better]”. These steps include making sure “the bucket is clean and there’s nothing in between” and showing the white space used in the scene.
The director also noted that if an actor realizes there are “three hot rounds” in a prop gun and is about to shoot a scene, “if one of the rounds doesn’t go off when he goes ‘bang, bang, bang,'” then he should cut the scene scene and said, “Guys, one of the rounds didn’t explode. I think I’m still holding a heat gun.
When Maher asked why the prop gun couldn’t be empty and the sound of the gunfire added in post-production, Tarantino said: “I guess I could put a digital erection in a porn, but who the hell wants to see that?” he added. Said, “It’s exciting to shoot the blank and see real orange flames instead of added orange flames.”
Baldwin faced trial on manslaughter charges earlier this year. The case was ultimately dismissed in July. “The late discovery of this evidence affects the fundamental fairness of the proceedings,” Judge Mary Marlow Sommer told the court. “The court has no recourse to correct this error. The sanction of dismissal is the only reasonable remedy.”
