Over the past month or so, Capcom has released Ace Attorney Investigation Collection Available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
In this collection, you take on the role of fan-favorite famed prosecutor Miles Edgeworth, remade from the original Nintendo DS version.
\What’s also great is that this is the premiere version of the second game in the series Ace Attorney Investigation 2: Prosecutor’s Strategy Outside Japan.
Capcom graciously provided me with a review copy of this collection for review purposes, but all thoughts below are my own. You can purchase your own copy from your favorite store, including GameStop (affiliate link).
Experience both games of Ace Attorney Investigations in one gorgeous collection! Play as prosecutor Miles Edgeworth from the main Ace Attorney game! Leave the courtroom and walk the crime scene with Edgeworth, collecting evidence and clues, and talking to people of interest. Use your wisdom and your discoveries to solve tough and interesting cases through logic and reasoning.
I’ve become a big fan of it Ace Lawyer I’ve been playing the series for the past few years and was excited when Investigation Collection was released because I missed the original DS game.
Capcom has done a great job with the last two series I’ve played, and I correctly assumed this wouldn’t be any different.
I admit, since I hadn’t played any of these games before, all my time was spent on the first game, Ace Attorney Investigation: Miles Edgeworthand I haven’t had time to finish it yet.
However, I would be surprised if there were no positives from either, as many positives come from improved quality of life.
Speaking of quality of life upgrades, let’s discuss what these upgrades mean to people survey collection. First and most obvious is the improvement in HD graphics. The new sprites and graphics look absolutely incredible based on the limited view of the old visuals compared to the new ones.
In addition to the visual overhaul, the game’s five audio tracks have been given a new arrangement, which can be turned on in the settings menu. Other improvements include the implementation of a history UI to revisit conversations you may have missed or forgotten, and a chapter select feature that allows you to start the game from any chapter you want even on your first playthrough (which I think is more Ideal for people who have already played the game (already played the game and just want to jump to a specific section), the game is available in seven different languages (Japanese, English, French, German, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese), including new voice acting And story mode essentially lets the game play out while you watch.
I think each one is a good inclusion. Story mode lets you watch the action unfold, but if you get to a section you want to take control of, you can manually turn it off and then turn it back on later if you want. The History feature is a godsend, how many times have I accidentally quickly clicked on some conversation and thought I missed something. Definitely all positives.
From what I’ve played, the story is just as interesting and gripping as the previous games. Ace Lawyer series. The fact that these games are told from Edgeworth’s point of view certainly adds a flair of its own.
You’re a prosecutor, so you think in a different way than Phoenix Wright or Apollo Justice. It’s also fun because you’re constantly accused of crimes and have to clear your name first and then find the culprit through some unique game mechanics.
I really like the gameplay changes survey collection. For starters, it’s not just a matter of clicking like other games in the series. You actually have an elf that you can move around to different areas to investigate things and talk to other characters.
Personally, I’m a huge fan of this and this is a huge win for me. Second, they introduce logical mechanisms. As Edgeworth collects clues, he writes them down, and you can then use logic to put different clues together to strengthen your evidence or point you in a certain direction for your next step.
This is something I wish was in other games because I often piece things together while playing but have trouble finding the right NPC to talk to or I try to show evidence in the wrong order or something, but in In my brain, I have a logic-like mechanism for connecting things. Maybe I’ve always been more of a prosecutor than a defense attorney.
What I mainly play is survey collection On my Steam Deck it works perfectly. Games like this usually don’t require much power support, so this isn’t surprising.
I have a little regret when playing games survey collection Although I want to touch on this briefly. There don’t appear to be any touch control options.
This is a very minor complaint that doesn’t really affect the score below, but sometimes I like to just touch the screen on the Steam Deck to advance dialogue rather than pressing buttons.
Overall, Capcom is building on the success of its previous series Ace Lawyer game and apply all the best parts to survey collection.
I’m glad the second game in the series now has a wider release. I love the same atmosphere and very similar gameplay loops of these games, but the ability to actually move sprites really enhances the experience for me personally.
I love these games and would definitely recommend fans of the series to play them, especially with the MSRP of only $39.99!
