This week’s headlines for the best comics to buy on October 9, 2024 are obviously: Absolute Batman #1If you pay any attention to direct marketing, you may have heard of a comic. But that’s not the only big announcement this week. Below you can find my usual top five recommendations, as well as a full list of releases for this Wednesday…enjoy!
The most worth buying comics on October 9, 2024
Absolute Batman #1
writer: Scott Snyder
artist: Nick Dragota
Colorist: frank martin
Writer: Clayton Cowles
Publisher: DC Comics
Batman legend Scott Snyder and iconic artist Nick Dragota bring the Dark Knight’s story into the modern day! No mansion…no money…no butler…all that’s left is the absolute Dark Knight!
Why it’s cool: Let’s be honest…you see the new character designs and you might buy the book based on that alone. I mean, this is a new vision of Batman, and if there’s one thing that most comic book fans can’t resist, this is it. I won’t spoil the book anymore, but I definitely recommend it. Return to view beat Full review coming tomorrow.

Action Comics #1070
writer: Mark Wade
artist: Clayton Henry
Colorist: Matt Helms
Writer: Dave Sharp

An otherworldly force of terror emerges from the Phantom Zone and sweeps across Metropolis. Something is wrong in this area – something terrible – and Superman must go in alone to find out what’s wrong! From the pages of Absolute Force and Batman/Superman: World’s Finest, the visionary creative team of Mark Waid and Clayton Henry return with a new action film unlike anything you’ve seen before epic! Plus, the woman of tomorrow is here today! Supergirl’s Mariko Tamaki and Skylar Patridge return to take Kara to the far reaches of space to pursue a mysterious threat that only she can deal with.
Why it’s cool: While the Absolute books have attracted a lot of attention, the new DC Comics All In has been quietly doing well over the past two weeks, especially with the start of this new book. action comics Story arc. It has a fantastic story setup that feels so obvious you can’t believe it’s never been done before. Oh, Clayton Henry somehow elevated his artwork again.

Autumn Kingdom #2
writer: Karen Bunn
artist: Christopher Mitten
Colorist: Francisco Segarra
Writer: Tyler Esposito
Publisher: they press
Sisters Sommer and Winter are shocked and confused when a group of goblins destroy their family’s vacation cabin and sneak off into the night with their parents. But the mysterious, jagged, massive sword they stumble upon while escaping into the forest provides the young girls with surprising strength, agility, and a vicious means of fighting back. As they seek refuge with an old couple in the woods, they learn the truth behind monsters, fairies, the blighted realm known as the Autumn Kingdom, and the deadly sacrifices it requires. . .
Why it’s cool: OMG, look at Christopher Mitten’s artwork! That alone is enough for me to sell this book, but if that’s not enough, Cullen Bunn has written a reliably entertaining blurry reality fantasy comic that will leave you on the edge of your seat wondering What happens next.
price: $4.99
Slasher Night #1
writer: Calvin Scott
artist: Paul Fry
Writer: Sean Lee
Publisher: magma comics
Hill Creek is a great place to visit…except for one night a year when its residents turn into bloodthirsty maniacs! Of course, that night, Laura’s bus breaks down, leaving the disillusioned teenager stranded in the secluded town with her classmates. Secrets are revealed and terror is everywhere – can anyone survive the night?
Why it’s cool: This isn’t just a horror comic. this is a slasher comics. plural. As the name suggests, this is a horror story that involves too much. While the first issue is just the beginning of things (obviously), this is a fun teen romp with sporadic outbursts of violence, as one would expect from the concept.
price: $3.99
Space Ghost #6
writer: David Peppers
artist: Liu Qiaosen
Colorist: Andrew Dalhousie
Writer: Tyler Esposito
Publisher: Dynamite Entertainment
After the shocking events of Issue 5, the Droid Corporation is working to keep the Galactic Federation’s military busy and distracted. To this end, they invited the most important person to assist in their evil plan-MOLTAR!
Why it’s cool: This is a difficult book to read. It feels like it’s not content with just being entertaining, but rather wants to be a pressure cooker through all of Space Ghost’s villains and mythology. It looks great too. This is one of the best comics to buy on October 9th.
