This week: Absolute Batman #7 and Batman Dark Pattern #5 It’s a very different story about the gritty Batman story, and that’s a really good thing. In addition, fire and ice make a comeback!
Absolute Batman #7

writer: Scott Snyder
artist: Marcos Martin
letter: Clayton Cowles
With the release Absolute green lantern Last week, the absolute universe of Washington, DC officially entered the unknown. For the first time since its launch, we have surpassed the original title and character wave, which makes Absolute Batman #7 A milestone. It marks the beginning of a new story arc, especially with the new guest artists involved in the series routine, Nick Dragotta. Instead Marcos Martínits style brings a completely different texture to Gotham and Bruce Wayne.
While the focus of the first six questions is to build the foundation of this new blues, this question turns it to a more fundamental space: the detective story. It is clear immediately Absolutely Batman It is about to become more personal. Snyder leaned this tone, opening up Bruce’s problem of caring for a broken arm and violating Pennyworth’s orders to stay away from the streets. There is a murder case to be resolved. Someone is closing. Bruce is, as always, the only one who can’t let it go.
But emotional weight comes from not only Bruce. The advantage of making this question is how it reframes the auxiliary castings, not as an auxiliary or ward, but as a peer. These are Bruce’s childhood friends, people who know who he is, and care enough about him. Watching them struggle with his obsession, frustration and introspection, this raises the problem. Snyder plays these tensions cleverly: the dialogue is cut, raw, and loads with subtext. You can feel history in every conversation.
Snyder makes these emotions stand out in his writing. You can really say that Bruce’s friend is angry that he does this to himself, thinking he’s crazy about it and it’s harmful to him. Meanwhile, you understand how Bruce feels and why he has to track down who killed their friend, especially because he believes it is his fault. The conflict with Batman’s battle diary allows readers to see the Dark Knight’s mind and give them a glimpse of his plans.
It is especially convincing to see these characters in the main DC universe as part of Batman’s Rogues gallery. They are not opponents. They were the only ones who knew Bruce’s secret, the only one who had completely grasped the cost of his crusade. This dynamic shift is what makes the absolute universe feel fresh. Bruce is not only the lonely warrior in the shadows. He is a man surrounded by people he may have lost and already feels he has.
Marcos Martín It may not be that artist readers expect this dirty new arc, but by the midpoint of the problem, it is hard to imagine anyone else effectively setting this tone. His Gotham uses neon energy (colored by his regular collaborators, Musta Vicente), cast outlines and throw light in emotional communication. The early pages are quiet conversations between Bruce and his friends, all in a shadowy state except for the light of the city, which blends the mood perfectly. Martín’s Bruce is huge and contemplative, but moves with a kind of haunted grace. When he climbed into the sky, injured but unwavering, it had nothing to do with the wonder. It’s just about survival.
but, Absolute Batman #7 Visual wonder is also provided. From Batman’s skyline to Gotham, to an unsettling new explanation of Mr. Freeze, Martín makes the city feel strange and familiar at the same time. The portrait is intact, but the twist is enough to remind us that this is not what we know of Gotham. It was a city where rules changed, and Bruce began to realize what it meant.
The problem did not end with an explosion, but with a slow and sharp twist of the knife. It’s a setup question, but a nervous question full of fear and expectation. Snyder and Martín are not just launching new arcs. They turned carefully to their hero. Bruce was hurt, a man, spinning towards something bigger than he realized. The question is not whether he will survive. That’s what he’ll be left after he’s finished.
This question is a strong reward for Black Detective (detailed measures on the following sections Batman Dark Mode), with rich emotional bets, sharp tension and fresh visual sounds of Marcos Martín. The mission has just begun, and it may have been too late for Bruce.
Final judgment: purchase
Summary
Batman Dark Pattern #5 Give us this a grip on the rear half of the tower arc. Dark Pattern Batman navigates a hostile tower as Batman because it is a black crime thriller (part of the psychological maze) that solidifies its own bondage. Criminal Blacks are a key part of Batman’s history and character, but to me it’s not like the focus of the recent Batman story. That’s why I found Dark Pattern So refreshing; every month feels like a new chapter in a detective novella. The openness of this issue is no exception. When GCPD debates outside how to illuminate with red and blue neon lights, Gordon came to the conclusion: “Inside Batman, he knows what he is doing.” The reader is then torn off from the scene and literally falls off when Bruce crashes through an electric purple lit level with stripes of fiery orange machine guns. The Dark Knight is the outline of chaos. His yellow symbol is the only constant, the target in increasingly hostile alien landscapes.
writer and Walt It undoubtedly created a high-stakes story, and despite the serious tone, as a Batman fan, I couldn’t help but feel dizzy. The book has action-filled moments, but it still explores the deeper levels of Blues. His interactions with the tower’s tenants made a small part of the conversation better. But Watters does more than that. He focuses on a story about trauma and its role in humans. Scarface is no longer just a person. This is an idea. The idea has taken over the tower and invaded the tenants. Not surprisingly, it will give these people a wrong version of “hope” that is poisoned to mislead the attempt to protect themselves.
This story becomes even more important, e.g. Hayden Shermanhe perfectly demonstrates the tower is a maze of a narrow corridor and a suffocating vertical industry. Each panel feels claustrophobic through design. You can feel the effort Batman has to put in, essentially climbing through each floor of the tower to reach the top, or, as he said, Scarface’s brain. Then you have it Farrell’s Triona The purpose of color, elevating this book to something special. The palette is not only atmospheric – its narrative. When Batman was hunted, the orange was green, and when he was safe, the Tata opened purple. This is not only the mood, but also the mood of Scarface. When Batman regained control, he melted the outline, claiming to be as shadowed as armor. The effect is nothing more than hypnosis.
I’ve said before: Absolutely Batman And the rest of the universe is doing incredible numbers, I can’t help but be attracted Dark Pattern Now, Batman is the most important thing. I believe it is still the best Batman Run we have right now. It’s not just the action, but even the mystery that makes it stand out. This is how much blues we allow to see in between. He was overwhelmed, eliminated and fully realized that every step in the tower was territory unknown to him. This question does not end with some big cliffs. It just builds and foreshadows what is about to happen. Discovering the truth behind the tower makes you feel remorseful to the tenants and see them as many victims as Bruce. Watters and Sherman fired at all cylinders, telling a story that felt nervous, cruel and most important. I can’t wait to see what they have in the finale, and so should you.
The Bat Family is very popular, I mean it’s crazy. You will see all the current Batwoman Running online gets a lot of mentions, Absolutely Batman It is the highest-selling comic in 2024, with less than 400,000 copies sold, and the list continues. I think it’s important to pay attention to this because for myself, I think there are some good mentions of Batman and Robin, but overall there are sales numbers because it’s Batman and Robin after all. Apart from the main crossover or the main Batman Run, one can see the closest thing to see the cape’s crusaders and the boy’s wonderful toes. Not to mention Damian is still a very popular character. I don’t think this is a bad thing either. Fans know what they want, and DC obviously caught people’s attention. You could even say that many current runs are built around this exact energy: Feeding the fanbase stories they love. But that doesn’t mean Batman and Robin haven’t carved something for themselves. In fact, Batman and Robin #20 It feels like proof. This is one of the questions to step up quietly and remind you why these two people are effective and why this book can have its own.
Phillip Kennedy Johnson The version of nailed onto blues feels deeply human. He gives us a caring father, not just a meditative vigilant, mobilizes the Bat family to track Damian with a sense of urgency and heart. Johnson brought Bruce to Earth, allowing him to interact with his son’s thoughts and feelings just like his father, not only like Batman. That’s given Carmine di giandomenico and Javier Fernandez Space that brings the Damian world to life in a truly compelling way. Damian uses visual effects to convey what words cannot be conveyed, while the creative team sells beautifully. Johnson even gave Damian space to express his fear and hope, asking what life would be like without Batman and Robin.
Overall, I think long-time fans of the series would be grateful here. However, for me, this question is more in the “Browse” category. As I said, the bat family can only be sold by name recognition. This question is interesting, thoughtful and worth reading, but that’s not all, honestly? It doesn’t matter.
Green Lantern Soldier #3 It’s a question I’ve been looking forward to, again Morgan Hampton and Jeremy Adams deliver. This series is still something I enjoyed thoroughly, especially because of its dialogue, which provides us with a real window into not only the life of the lanterns themselves, but also the lives of the people and powers that shape them, including friends and enemies. The mystery at the heart of Thanagar pushes the story forward, but the real blow is how the question explores the emotional weight each character brings. We can see John Stewart, Hawkwoman and Atrocitus’s perceptions of anger and hatred, all while navigating a task that tests are limited. Stewart’s quiet strength, the unwavering power of the jack, and Razer’s original willpower each brought something different to the table, but everyone was under pressure. Hawkwoman is particularly prominent as she struggles to cope with her sorrow and anger, the impact on the destroyed planet and the future on her species. There are a lot of dangers here, and this question does not shirk the heaviness of the entire lantern and the legion. Green Lantern fans will surely find a lot to appreciate in this series, but as fractal lantern arcs are still evolving, there is no clear resolution and not clearly addressed, this particular issue is more inclined to browse. It’s a powerful emotional staging, but it feels like a stepping stone, not a reward.
