Recommended by Aaron for a crossover between the two Honey, I shrunk the baby and game of ThronesThe comic tells the story of a boy who is forced to wage war in a small kingdom in his own backyard.
Slade Slaymaker is a kid from Alabama who is suddenly lost in a world more evil than he could have ever imagined, filled with armies of marauding ants, spell-casting spider witches and A savage riding a beetle. A kingdom of tiny but deadly warriors hidden in his own backyard. In the same world where his father was eaten alive by insects, young Slade is now thrust into a brutal insect war to decide the fate of his family.
Aaron commented: “When I was a kid, our backyard was a magical place where I spent hours imagining epic adventures with action figures scattered across the grass. In many ways, I still feel like That kid, running around the yard, making up stories. Over the years, the stories just got darker. For Slade Slamek, the backyard of his Alabama home was a place full of stories. A place of terror and brutality, where a horde of sword-wielding mites and their army of flesh-eating beetles and acid-spewing ants declare war on his family.
The book is Aaron’s first creator-owned comic since last year’s BOOM! studio legends Once upon a time at the end of the worldthis is his first time working at Image Stars and sea ends in 2021, for the first time since Asrar Generator 5 (2007-2010).
