Netflix has released the first trailer for a beautiful anime series called Leviathantells a story that took place during the First World War.
The series is adapted from the author’s novel trilogy Scott Westfield. The story takes place in a fictional world that reflects our own.
In 1914, “On the eve of war, a fugitive prince and a girl in disguise met on a bioengineering airship, the Leviathan, and changed the course of history.
“Prince Alexander, the potential heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, is on the run. Derin Sharp is a civilian disguised as a boy from the British Air Force.
“As World War I begins to break out, Alec and Delin’s paths intersect in the most unexpected ways…leading them on a fantastical globe-trotting adventure that will change their lives forever.”
This is a very different version of war, though, as combatants fight in mecha suits called “Clankers” that are less technologically advanced than the familiar mecha like Mobile Suit Gundam and Eva units. You’ll see these jingles in action in the trailer.
Christopher Ferreira (Garden of Eden Character Design) is directing the animated series, Hisaishi Joe Contribute original songs to the production. Nobuko Toda (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045) and One horse in the formation (Suzume, RWBY: Ice Queen) is a music composer. Studio Orange is responsible for animation production.
The upcoming anime series is expected to be released on Netflix in 2025.
