Marvel revealed another new title for the Fantastic Four movie during a Hall H Comic-Con panel, showing off some test footage from the upcoming film.
Back in February, Marvel finally gave the “Fantastic Four” movie an official title: “Fantastic Four” and also confirmed who would play the four superheroes. Well, at Comic-Con this week, Marvel decided to give it another new name, although it’s more of a stretch than a complete name change: Fantastic Four: The First Steps. I can’t tell you what that subtitle means, but I assume it has something to do with going into space or another universe, since it’s set in a retro-future New York City universe separate from the main Marvel universe.

Director Matt Shakman revealed that production on the film will begin next Monday in the UK, but a few trailers were still shown. Apparently, the clip includes Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and Thing respectively. Each dress up in spaceman costumes and set off on a massive spaceship, with the final shot being of their main bad guy, the giant Devourer hovering above the Earth.
It’s worth noting that the Fantastic Four will also appear in the next few Avengers movies. Oh, and if you haven’t heard, Avengers 5 finally has a title – Avengers: Doomsday, and that’s because Doctor Doom is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new supervillain… and he just doesn’t Will be played by whoever you expect. The Fantastic Four will also appear in “Avengers 6” (aka “Secret Wars”), Doctor Doom will appear again, “Doomsday” will be released in May 2026, and “Secret Wars” will be released the following year in 2027 Released in May.
