Marvel Studios will wrap up its iconic Hall H Comic-Con panel with a slew of big announcements. First, Kevin Feige confirmed that Joe and Anthony Russo will return to the MCU with Avengers 5 and 6. Secret Wars,” but the fifth film will no longer be “Avengers: Kang”. Instead, it will now be called Avengers: Doomsday.

Kang’s transformation began after Jonathan Majors was fired from his job after being convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Instead, the new main villain of the next Avengers movie is one of Marvel’s most famous villains: Doctor Doom. The character will be played by Robert Downey Jr., the actor who played Iron Man in the MCU in 2008.
As part of the announcement, multiple Doctor Dooms took to the stage, followed closely by Downey himself. Downey said he enjoys playing complex characters. It’s not explained why Doctor Doom physically matches the late Tony Stark, but presumably it will tie into the Marvel Multiverse. In the Marvel Comics Universe, there is a Doomsday Council from another world. But as we all know, Doom is surrounded by robots who look like himself. Doctor Doom will also return in Avengers: Secret Wars, concluding the Marvel Multiverse saga.
“Avengers: Doomsday” will be released on May 1, 2026, and “Avengers: Secret Wars” will be released on May 7, 2027. Additionally, Giancarlo Esposito’s role in Captain America: Brave New World has been revealed, and the film will tie into The Eternals.
