master of horror Karen Bunn and strange foresight Christopher Mitten Never collaborated on a horror comic. This is a cosmic flaw in the universe if you ask me. Fortunately, this oversight has been corrected with the release of their new comic autumn kingdomfour issues of folk horror comics are about to be published they press It tells the story of a family swallowed up by the dark Swedish forest, which is filled with evil myths and stories.
Here is the official synopsis of the press release:
“Best-selling author Andrew Keel has found the perfect place to write his latest dark fantasy novel—an idyllic, remote cabin on the edge of Sweden’s dense forest. His young daughters, Sommer and Winter, happily explore… until they stumble upon a strange clearing of ancient statues: goblins, dwarves, elves, and a warrior queen who has mysteriously lost her swordhand and weapon. When something sinister stalks the girls home and viciously snatches away their parents in the night, the sisters’ only hope may be that ancient relic lost in the forest undergrowth, waiting for a new champion to come. Take over…“
It’s easy to think of Bunn as the Stephen King of comics. His work ranges from quiet horror to personal horror (empty person) to an epic filled with dark legends (hollow kingdom), covering most of what the genre has to offer. Just when you think he’s done all he can, he finds other frightening ways to use concepts and ideas to take the familiar into unconventional places (like the stunning Bone Parish, a mix of drugs, the paranormal, and New Orleans spiritualism). Obviously, there’s always plenty of reason to get excited when new Cullen Bunn plans are announced.
Mitten, on the other hand, has entered Hellboy and BPRD His style is a wonderful blend of realism and fantasy. His approach to world-building and character design emphasizes the mundane so that the play of supernatural elements can undermine it to greater effect. It allows for a different take on dark fantasy, luring readers with a false sense of security that is destined to be shattered once something strange enters our reality.
