Stephen Colbert has been paying attention to the buzz surrounding Vice President Kamala Harris since she became the presumptive Democratic nominee for president. He also proudly embraced the label “The Kid,” allowing the audience to perform the Charli XCX “Apple” dance on repeat.
In his Wednesday night monologue, late night show The host talked about Harris’ hilarious “falling off a coconut tree” speech in 2023.
“This drastic change of tone could be a preview of some very interesting presidential statements,” Colbert quipped. “‘I didn’t just slide on a banana peel into a kiddie pool full of pudding! I ordered an airstrike in Syria this afternoon.'”
Colbert further commented on CNN’s embarrassing “Kamala Is Brat” segment, in which five adults over the age of 32 tried to make sense of Harris’s presidential campaign’s use of memes. Unfortunately, as Colbert points out, literally “print out a meme and put on your reading glasses” doesn’t exactly give the impression that you understand current trends.
