This innovative game, held every two years since 2008, has gained traction as the anime version of a fantasy sport where players can predict the popularity of anime series in a specific season.
- With the launch of the full season mode, anime fans can now enjoy the game year-round. Registration for the summer anime season will open on June 12th.
About Fantasy Animation Alliance
Fantasy Anime League (FAL) is an original simulation game hosted by MyAnimeList. It blends elements of popular fantasy sports leagues with a unique twist – instead of players, players select animated titles and compete against them. FAL’s gameplay relies on ratings provided by anime fans registered on MyAnimeList. Contestants must use their insights, predictions and analytical skills to assemble a team of eight anime productions to achieve the highest score during the 13-week season. This unique gaming experience is only possible on MyAnimeList, a platform with 18 million monthly active users from over 240 countries around the world.
The game was originally organized by the MyAnimeList community in 2007 and was initially played on the forum. In 2021, it has undergone systematization and gradually developed into an activity that can be enjoyed by a wider user group. Points are calculated weekly, using user activity data in MyAnimeList, such as viewership, forum discussions, ratings, and collections. Throughout the game, lively discussions about FAL take place on the MyAnimeList club and Discord.
