TennoCon is Digital Extremes’ annual conference that partners with and donates to charities in Canada. At TennoCon 2024, Warframe developers have chosen two charities to partner with, compared to previous years when one charity was chosen as a partner for community events. This year, AbleGamers is Digital Extremes’ overseas choice and Make-A-Wish is their local charity’s choice.
Digital Extremes makes a child’s wish to become a video game voice actor come true through Make-A-Wish. James is a 16-year-old boy with spina bifida who is familiar with Warframe because his older brother is a Tenno – an affectionate term for Warframe players. Digital Extremes originally discovered James’ wish by Kevin Lim, the voice actor for the Warframe character Bombastine.
“Through participation [Make-A-Wish, Lim] “Heard about a boy named James who wanted to be a voice actor in video games,” said community manager Megan Everett. From there, Lim asked James what he was doing because of Lim’s recent work, and whether he would be interested in becoming a voice actor for Warframe.
“Then Kevin Lim contacted us, and from there, we contacted Make-A-Wish and asked James if he wanted to join Warframe. He was very excited about getting the opportunity. We just continued talking to James, Make-A-Wish and him family. [Van Den Hoogenband] and veronica [Botnick] on our community team [who] Over the years, they have taken the lead in reaching out to charities regardless of TennoCon. They also actively participated in wish-making activities and even [talked] Worked with the developer to have his character crafted and aligned in the arcade cabinet within the game [James and his family] Come to London,” Everett explained.
Earlier this week, James arrived in London with his family to record lines for James’ character in the upcoming Warframe 1999 expansion at Digital Extremes’ studio. “Talking to James and his family every day [his mother] He sent me a message saying he had the best day ever during rehearsals.
James and his characters will appear in the arcade cabinet section of Warframe 1999, so players can hear and see for themselves while playing the game. Warframe 1999’s expansion is set to release this winter.
