Even before the first iteration of the first movie hit theaters, Zack Snyder was clearly thinking long term Rebellious Moon. More movies, mobile games, comics, even TTRPGs – if there’s a medium that can accommodate his sci-fi epic, Snyder is determined to take it there. Unsurprisingly, this includes a podcast that parodies movie actors and features several well-known actors.
Specifically, the Narrative Fiction Podcast The Steward: The Story of Rebel Moon will tell the story of the original Jimmy, the robot voiced by Anthony Hopkins in the film. The prequel is set centuries before the events of the film and focuses on two inventors who are commissioned by King Ulmer to become a warrior knight to help him maintain control of the universe. In-universe, Jimmy was created as a guardian of the Overworld’s royal family, but you know how it goes. Robots born for violence eventually find a human (usually a woman) who gives them a soul and inspires them toward heroism. In this example it is radioactive Ella Purnell stars as Raina in what has been called “a story of creation, ambition, faith and betrayal.”
In addition to Purnell, the cast includes lost Naveen Andrews and Alfred Enoch (How to get away with murder) As inventors Grigory and Adwin, Peter Serafinowicz (John Wick 2) plays Bartholomew, with Jason Isaacs playing Ulmer himself. if you are a Rebellious Heads who know a lot about the lore, this will definitely be your jam, especially since it’s another addition to the future of the franchise in addition to the expansion and rebrand (which is said to be more gory) in early August. For others, perhaps it will be an interesting listen to see how Snyder’s work fares in a new format and without his signature visual style.
housekeeper It will be available on the podcast platform on July 29th and will end on September 2nd.
