A new trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball anime Daima has been released, bringing with it the launch month.
Earlier this week, Toei Animation shared a new look at Dragon Ball Daimon, revealing some of the new characters Goku and his friends will have to face. These new characters include Glorio, the blue guy who looks like he’s fighting for Goku; Gomah, a funny-looking evil clown (and presumably the series’ big bad), and Majin, who is a bit mysterious. Mini versions of Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Supreme Kai all appear, with the latter seeming to be very prominent along with Goku, so it’s possible that Kais will be important in some way this time around.

Unfortunately, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama passed away earlier this year at the age of 68, making Daima his final project and his last official involvement in the series. Before his death, he shared a comment about this, saying: “Due to a conspiracy, Wukong and his friends became small. To solve the problem, they will travel to a new world! This is an action-packed adventure Adventure in an unknown and mysterious world.

“Since Goku has to make up for his small stature, he fights using his power pole, which is something that hasn’t been done in a long time. I’m actually more invested than usual. Things will unfold in a very short period of time. Telling the secrets of the Dragon Ball world, I hope you all enjoy these cute and powerful battles that are different from the usual!
While the series may have its usual mix of comedy and action, I still expected to shed a few tears given the context of it all. The arrival of the new trailer also finally confirms that longtime Goku voice actor Masako Nozawa will be returning to voice the character.
