Yes, the romantic drama has been renewed for a second season. Hulu revealed the renewal a month after the season 1 finale.
The show airs on Hulu from September 2022 to October 2022.
How did Tell Me Lies Season 1 end?
The ending begins with the truth behind Messi’s death.
In an earlier episode, Stephen and Macy had a summer fling.
However, Stephen wants to keep this secret from his ex-girlfriend Diana.

When Lucy doesn’t want to go out for the night, roommate Macy ends up going to a party alone, and she calls Stephen to join them.
When they decided to go home, neither enjoyed driving very much.
But Stephen took the key and took it.
The shocking fact that Stephen was actually the driver of the car accident really fits the character’s egocentric tendencies.
We see Stephen take his eyes off the road during the pair’s argument, and then he has to swerve to avoid hitting Drew.
Unfortunately, Stephen crashed into a tree and Messi was killed on impact as the passenger’s side seat belt did not work. Stephen then picked up Macy’s body, placed it in the driver’s seat, deleted evidence of their contact from her phone and walked home, leaving Macy to be found by police.
Stephen didn’t hesitate to hold Drew accountable for the accident, which is something he clearly struggled with on screen.
This also leads Lucy to believe that the accident was Drew’s fault, while Stephen was in the passenger seat when the accident occurred and only walked away because he was afraid the police would find out he was there and had been drinking.
Murder in the Building Season 4: Everything We Know
In order to “protect” Stephen, Lucy wrote an anonymous letter to the dean of the college. After being called into the Dean’s office, Drew thinks Stephen must be behind the letter, but Stephen tells him that his brother Wrigley told his girlfriend Pippa.
When Wrigley got into trouble, Drew and Wrigley ended up fighting, and Wrigley accidentally fell off a balcony, causing an injury that kept him from playing quarterback for the football team his senior year.
Stephen obviously knew Lucy was behind the letter, but Wrigley thought it was Pippa, which led to him breaking up with her.
In another attempt to “protect” Stephen, Lucy lied to another student, saying she was with Stephen the night of the accident. When Diana heard the lie, she told Stephen, who was angry but realized the lie could easily be discredited.
After all this, Drew was let off the hook by Dean, meaning Lucy’s letter did absolutely nothing besides ruin Pippa and Wrigley, and actually hurt Wrigley physically and ruined his football career future.
When Calls the Heart Season 11: Everything We Know
We then see Diana win Stephen’s heart back as the two walk hand in hand downstairs and leave the end-of-semester party in Hawaii.
This breaks Lucy’s heart and she wonders where he is downstairs, ends up drinking too much and sleeping with her friend Bree’s boyfriend Alvin.
Fast forward eight years and we’re at Lucy and Evan’s engagement party, and it feels different now as an audience knowing what happened between Lucy and Evan all those years ago.
As Stephen’s much-anticipated arrival unfolds, another shocking twist is revealed. Stephen is now engaged to Lucy’s best friend Lydia!

Lily McInerney played Macy despite her early death. Jessica Capshaw plays Lucy’s mother CJ Albright, and Kate Sagel plays Stephen’s borderline narcissistic and emotionally manipulative mother Nora.
We expect more scenes from Natalie Lynez as Lydia and Edmund Donovan as Max.

According to Us Weekly, in January 2024, the show’s Instagram account revealed that Opheimer’s husband Tom Ellis would join the second season, while Thomas Doherty will play a college freshman who gets caught up in Lucy and Stephen’s predicament.

Tell Me Lies Season 2 Plot
Oppenheimer told TheWrap in November 2022 that season 2 will likely show more of the characters’ adult lives, starting with the engagement party and a flashback to their time in college at the end of the show.
She also hinted that future episodes will focus more on supporting characters, particularly Diana and Bree, noting that viewers will want to see more of Bree.
Hopefully we’ll find out the context of how Stephen and Lydia met, why Stephen and Diana’s relationship ended, what happened to Drew, and how Lucy discovered her ex’s relationship with her best friend back home.

When is the release date of Tell Me Lies Season 2?
We finally have a release date for Tell Me Lies season 2.
Hulu has announced that the show will return with two new episodes on September 4th!
It was confirmed in November 2022 that the season was originally scheduled to be released in 2023, but the WGA and SAG strikes delayed the season.
The film begins filming in January 2024, so it’s no surprise that it’s scheduled for a fall premiere again.
