They got me! This time they were nice to me! Just a few days ago, Marvel Snapshot (Free) Has appropriate App Store updates and does not include any balance changes to the card. I thought we were in for a quiet week here after the last OTA update brought the tea table into orbit. But no, we’ve got a sneaky little OTA update later this week with some changes that are sure to impact the meta. Let’s separate them.
As usual, it’s a mix of nerfs and buffs, but the biggest change here is to Angela. Lately, she’s been wreaking havoc on her friends Kitty Pryde, Jeff, Nocturne, and Xena, and apparently she’s done a little too well, because today the bats are coming for her. She went from 2 cost 0 power to 2 cost 3 power, and her ability now only gives +1 power to each card she plays at her location, instead of +2. She’ll still be strong, but her ceiling will be much lower than before.
The recent rule changes to how actions are resolved don’t really seem to have changed that much, but there are a few cards that are a little difficult and they’re making some adjustments to try to help them recover. Hercules went from 4 cost 7 strength to 3 cost 4 strength, but his abilities didn’t change. Surf gang? Surf gang. Big Boss joins the ranks of 1-cost cards, going from 2-cost 3 power to 1-cost 2 power, and once again his abilities are unchanged. Miles Morales also got a slight buff, gaining a bit of power when he went from 4 cost 5 power to 4 cost 6 power, while his abilities remained the same.
Things are accomplished through some other “piecemeal” buffs. For Evolver himself, Cost 4-Power to 4-Cost 6-Power is a good start, I find that these decks don’t really prioritize playing HE themselves, so this might make him play more often.
Nick Fury has cool powers, but he’s another character you don’t see as much as you might see him played because of how influential he is in Marvel media. He gains more power, going from 4 cost 5 power to 4 cost 6 power. Well, three cards in this OTA are moving to 6-Power. Maybe something can be done with Cerebro? Well, I’ll leave that to others to figure out. Maybe Sean will put together a July deck guide next week.
Finally, poor old Eliot. It received backlash almost from the moment it launched, but this latest change is a positive. It used to cost 6 to the power of 8, but now it costs 6 to the power of 10. Its capabilities remain unchanged. You might see a potential disadvantage here, as it puts Alioth within Shang-Chi’s attack zone, but if you think about how Alioth’s abilities work, you’ll see that this is all a benefit to the large dust cloud Benefits.
This is what this looks like for this batch of balance changes Marvel Snapshot. what do you think? Do these affect you? Are you planning on adding any polished cards to your rotation? Feel free to sound off in the comments below, and be sure to keep an eye out for our latest deck-building guide next week!
