Hello, dear readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade roundup for July 19, 2024. i have spent my time hot lap racing, I am ready to make my judgment. After that, we’ll cover the new releases of the day, which aren’t many but still give you something to enjoy. We wrap things up the way we always do, taking a look at the day’s new discounts and those expiring soon. let’s start!

    Comments and mini views

    Hot Lap Racing ($34.99)

A man chasing two rabbits will catch neither. See, the proverb isn’t always true. But Confucius’s wise words mostly ring in my mind while playing. hot lap racing. It advertises itself as a “simcade racing game,” and it certainly contains elements from both sides of the sim/arcade line. Satisfying fans of any type of game.

Almost immediately you’ll be hit with a bucket of cold water. The game’s career mode won’t let you move an inch without your first license, and you can only do that by completing one of two extremely tedious activities. You can do drills, which require a lot of precision turning, braking, and accelerating, or you can do challenges that require you to complete a lap within a specific time. You dare not leave the road or breathe on the pillars, otherwise you will have to start over. This proved to be too strict and demanding for my arcade racing roots by setting a pace for the game. The game constantly reminds you to do things differently than it wants you to do every time.

But maybe simulation fans will be happy? I suspect they’ll find themselves equally frustrated by the unrealistic physics and general lack of tuning options. The way the car moves around the rails and grabs onto the rails is…weird. This does make it even more unbelievable to ask for. It gives you cars that handle in strange ways, but seems to expect you to follow real racing techniques and rules. Oh, I should also mention the AI of other cars on the road, because it’s also a pain in the ass. The cars will do their thing no matter what you do, so it’s like trying to wade through a herd of cattle at the start of every race and then driving lazily without catching any of them.

Performance-wise, the game manages to avoid the blurry mess that other racers suffer from on Switch. Overall, it looks pretty good, which is impressive considering the team’s resources. It’s targeting 30 fps, and… well, we all know what we mean when we say something “targets” frame rate, right? , like some rounds are on the screen too much, it’s not terrible or anything, but for me at least it’s at least noticeable, a clown who would barely notice the framerate drops unless he’s looking for them .

Having said that, hot lap racing It does have certain advantages. An eclectic mix of real and fictional cars from different eras. There are quite a few courses, although most are in very similar looking locations. Career mode is really cool if you can meet its requirements, as you’ll play against real drivers and if you beat them, you can add their information to a small encyclopedia. Again considering the size of the developer, this is actually a pretty capable and professional-feeling racer. It has its flaws, but you can probably forgive it on its merits.

i really want to like hot lap racing, because the Switch could really use more great racers. While I can’t say I never hated it, because there were times when I did, but I think overall it’s pretty good. I can see this developer building on this foundation and doing really good things in the future. But ultimately, I don’t think it quite achieves its goal of being somewhere between simulation and arcade-style racing. These two very different flavors don’t mix together in a pleasing way here, and when you throw in some performance issues, I can only lightly recommend it.

    SwitchArcade Rating: 3/5

    Toree’s Panic Pack ($0.99)

You really can’t deny the value for money with these Tori game. Sure, they’re short and a little gimmicky (albeit in a charming way), but for a little money you get a nice little experience. The pack includes three mini-games spanning seven levels and a total of twenty-four challenge missions. As usual, it’s quite difficult to complete completely. Of course, you’ll get your money’s worth.

    Frogule ($4.99)

If you just want a simple puzzle game, you can play it until the weekend for five bucks. Frogule Maybe that’s what you’re after. You are a little frog warrior, and in each of the fifty stages you need to complete various tasks to open the exit door and get out. This gimmick is one we’ve seen before, where pushing in one direction will cause your character to keep moving in that direction until they hit something. It’s interesting because you don’t always have the same goals in different stages. Not bad at all, as long as you like this kind of game.

    Cosmic Fantasy ($26.50)

    Cosmic Fantasy 2 ($26.50)

These classic role-playing games can now be purchased individually outside of the collection, although the collection can still save you some money.

Ninja Feast: Glaze of Glory ($9.99)

In this auto-running game, you play as an overweight ninja hunting down the thief who stole the dojo’s most prized donuts. Yes, there are coins. Yes, there are unlockable costumes and other goodies. this is not right Ninja: Clash of Carrotswhat do I give you.

    4 elements ($8.99)

It’s an action platformer with some very light-hearted puzzle-solving that involves using the right character in the right situation. You have four natural elements and you have to swap between them as needed or just set up cool combinations to look like a pro. Gain new abilities, explore secret stages, fight some tough bosses, you know the deal. It’s a little rough around the edges, but it’s achieved a sufficient level of capability. Ignore its claims to be a metroidvania; it’s not. more similar to a Mega ManStyle thing, really.

    sales volume

    (North American e-store, US prices)

If you like games with an anime aesthetic, today’s new sales listing has a lot to offer. I don’t have any particular titles to shout out today, but the list isn’t very long anyway. The mailbox is shorter on the weekends, so as usual I would recommend checking both lists and then heading to the exit.
