this final fantasy 14 MMORPG recently launched its latest expansion pack “Dawntrail”. With its release, Square Enix It has also been working with other companies to create exclusive physical and digital items for Warriors of Light. The series is no stranger to collaborations, having partnered with Grubhub on Eat Pizza emoticons, Butterfingers and twitch Chocorpokkur Mountain, and more recently Mountain Dew, is none other than the wonderfully named Mountain Zu. Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) and game staff announced during the 82nd Live Letter broadcast on June 14 final fantasy 14 and Gong Cha, a bubble tea company. The collaboration officially began on Wednesday.
The specifics of the collaboration vary by region. At least in the U.S., Europe and Oceania, customers can purchase three drinks from Gong Cha in one transaction to receive a keychain with a miniature bubble tea cup mascot or an exclusive in-game Porxie King mount. Regarding mounts specifically, Gongcha offers physical scratch cards with codes that must be redeemed on a separate website, which requires players to log in using their own website final fantasy 14 Certificate. The website will then provide another code that must be entered into the Mogstation so that the player can receive an in-game email with the mount. Each mount can only be used on one character, and it cannot be the one in the free trial. The mount itself, the Crowned Porxie King, is a variant of the existing mount Portly Porxie, which players can easily obtain in-game through horde quests in the “Shadowbringers” expansion. But King Poxie has a new hat!
Customers can choose an adorable keychain featuring the Fat Chocobo, Moogle, and Fat Cat creatures from the game. Gong Cha has also launched special collaboration drinks themed after these characters: Fat Cat Purrfect Latte, Fat Chocobo’s Flying Smoothie and Cactuar Latte. There are also special drink cups. Note that while these three drinks are exclusive to the collaboration, customers can purchase any three drinks to receive the bonus.
The partnership runs from July 17 to August 28, and any codes obtained from scratch cards must be redeemed before September 4. While the stand itself is a digital product, the code is printed on the physical card, so quantities may be limited if not restocked. Unfortunately, code cards and keychains must be redeemed in person. Although there are tribute tea shops all over the world, not every country has them. Even within the country, they’re not in every city, and U.S. residents may have to travel far if they want an exclusive gift. The rules state that the installation code cannot be transferred or sold, but that hasn’t stopped some people from making money from it.
In Japan, the rules are slightly different. Players need to spend 2,000 yen (approximately $12.70) or more on a Gongcha mobile order to receive the digital code. They only need to spend 3,000 yen (approximately $19.05) to participate in the merchandise lottery to receive the keychain.
Since the giveaway requires three drinks, you may experience long wait times or even errors when ordering drinks. Gongcha employees are understandably working hard to meet these requests. While there’s no word on whether these items will be available after the collaboration ends, once-limited items, such as the pizza-eating emote and Chocorpokkur mount, have returned through means such as the FFXIV online store or new events. For those Warriors of Light who are lucky enough to be near Gong Cha, enjoy those flying pigs and bubble tea, kupo!
The Dawntrail expansion pack launches on July 2nd and will be available in Early Access on June 28th. Additionally, the level cap has been increased from level 90 to level 100.
