When ABC announced its fall slate, two of its most popular series, “The Rookie” and “Will Trent,” were moved to midseason.
Fans who have been waiting for a long time are understandably angry and worried again due to a double whammy.
The Rookie is about to enter its seventh season, which worries us because two ABC series, Station 19 and The Good Doctor , were recently canceled in their seventh seasons. While Will Trent is heading into its third season, it also ended with a polarizing ending that left viewers anxious.
Why are rookies and Will Trent delayed until January 2025?
ABC’s fall 2024 Tuesday slate includes “Dancing with the Stars” and the new series “High Potential.” This makes no sense since they are both solid ratings performers.
The only saving grace is that they’ve both been greenlit for 18 episodes, and we’re told they’ll air non-stop from January to May. That’s more episodes than Will Trent ever got. The first season of the show has a total of 13 episodes.
It’s an election year, so at least this way, we don’t have to worry about the debate delaying either series.

Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich is confident in both shows and praised them at Disney Upfronts.
“We’re delaying the return of those shows until mid-season so they can really run uninterrupted during the season, which I think is a really powerful weapon for people watching our shows,” Elwich said. and New Year’s Rockin’ Night Along with all the events we have in December, January is one of the best times to launch new programming.
Giving the writers longer to plan a more cohesive season would work, but let’s be honest. A double whammy delayed everything and now everyone is hurt.
How does “The Rookie” season 6 end?
Season 6 of The Rookie is rough, in part because some storylines feel rushed and underdeveloped.
After a season-long arc, Chanford finally came together, but it was torn apart in Season 6 Episode 6. . We don’t know much about his military background or his past with Ray.
He wants to protect Lucy, but she wants to be there for him and expresses her anger at him for taking away her voice in their relationship.
Tim tried therapy, even though Blair London was working for the wrong side. Fans are eager to see how Tim and Lucy move forward with their relationship following their split. They still care about each other.
Hopefully with more episodes, Tim will spend more time in therapy exploring his past and helping others as a training officer.
Monica is a fantastic villain this season, and the impact of her involvement will be felt in Season 7.

Jason becomes the main antagonist of season seven when he becomes jaded when he meets Bailey’s ex.
We have so much story and potential storylines lined up for Rookie, but we’re still months away from its premiere.
How did Will Trent season 2 end?
Will Trent Season 2 ended on a controversial cliffhanger that left fans divided and talking.
As the team works to understand who killed these sex offenders, they discover that the killer is Crystal, a young girl Angie mentored.
Angie realizes this too and tries to stop Crystal from getting involved with her. Lenny sexually assaulted Angie and Crystal when they were teenagers.
Initially, Angie thought she was giving Crystal a second chance at life when she covered up the fact that Crystal stabbed Lenny because he had caused her so much pain, but then Crystal kept killing Dead sex predator.
It’s a gray case because while you sympathize with Angie and Crystal, it’s hard to sympathize with the predators.
Ainge has come so far this season. Even Amanda recognizes how she can mentor others and help Will more. It was supposed to be time for Angie and Will’s happy ending, but it was robbed and now we have to wait months to see what the consequences will be for Angie.
Will usually sees things in black and white, but he struggled with this decision because he and Angie had only recently reunited. She’s been in his life for so long, and his decision to arrest her could ruin everything.
Will didn’t have many people he could trust, so it was an influential decision. Then he disappeared. We suspect he visited his uncle Antonio, with whom he had recently become acquainted, as nearly everyone else was devastated by what happened.

detection. Life in Ormwood is constantly changing, too. When his wife, Gina, left to work in mental health, he became the children’s primary caregiver.
In the finale, Gina returns, claiming she wants a divorce and custody of her children.
Will Trent’s season left many character-rich arcs on the show, not even counting this week’s murder mystery.
How will these extended hiatus affect fans and these shows?
Will Trent has played two mid-season games before. After ending with such a controversial ending, this would have been an ideal opportunity to air the series in the fall.
Fans are eager to see how Angie gets out of this situation. They are divided over whether they belong to Team Angie or Team Will, whether or not they understand why Will arrested Angie for these murders.
“The Rookie” also had a cliffhanger ending, as Season 6 was often fragmented and mediocre at best, so the action was saved for last.
While a cliffhanger ending is a trope in the hope that your audience will come back, leaving them hanging for eight months is cruel. Both Rookie and Will Trent put one of their leading couples in danger, even if one half was trying to do the right thing.
Beyond that, fans will be eager to see if any rivals still threaten the team, with Monica, Oscar and Jason all set free.

Discussion and speculation about upcoming spoilers can only last so long, so waiting until January isn’t the best decision for ABC.
Some fans may wait, no matter how long it takes, but many others are exhausted from the nearly year-long wait between seasons. They complain that they have to do that for streaming shows and that they shouldn’t have to wait that long for broadcast scripted shows.
“The Rookie” has been airing in the fall, and the ratings of both shows are quite good. They are a wiser decision than airing more reality shows.
