In Stardew Valley, turning crops into craft items increases their value, and one of the best ways to do this is by turning fruit into wine. Making wine requires special equipment and time, but it does significantly increase the selling price of these items, especially if you have the ability to produce in large quantities. Here’s how to make wine and make more money in the process.
How to make wine and kegs
The wine is made by placing the fruit in small barrels and waiting 7 days for processing. Once you reach Farming Level 8, you can craft a keg using 30 wood, 1 copper bar, 1 iron bar, and 1 oak resin.
How to make high-quality wine
All fruit will turn into regular quality wine, so using premium fruit will not add value. If you put vegetables into a keg, they will turn into juice, and others will turn into specific items, such as hops turning into ale. If you have the Craftsman profession, wine is worth 40% extra.
Unlock the cellar
Once you unlock the wine cellar, you can improve the quality of your wine, which comes with the third main house upgrade. You can place wooden barrels in your cellar, which will age the wine once placed in them. Silver quality takes 14 days, gold quality takes 28 days, and iridium quality takes 56 days. The value of silver increased by 25%, the value of gold increased by 50%, and the value of iridium increased by 100%. While the time required makes the value proposition imperfect for everyone, if you produce a large enough volume of wine it’s worth filling the barrels with wine, but not necessarily preserving the wine until the barrels are opened.
