Maybe you’ve already seen the season 4 finale of The Boys, which has received decent reviews so far, but if you haven’t, you may be concerned about the series and the official Prime Video account following the broadcast. Surprised by the last minute warning.
According to IGN, the original title for Season 4, Episode 8 was “Assassination Run,” which, despite the nature of the series and all the build-up to the season’s plot point, was unfortunate to say the least. Now, Prime Video has dropped the title and shared an official statement regarding the main events depicted in the episode and the process behind them (and the lack of connections to real-life events).

Of course, last weekend’s assassination attempt on Trump wasn’t the first time someone shot a U.S. president, nor was it a plot point that hasn’t been mentioned in countless novels, but you can never be sure, especially in the age of social media and false outrage. , and more importantly, tensions in the United States have reached dangerous heights ahead of the next presidential election.

For now (and for all we know, it may get a new title later), Amazon has renamed the series “Season 4 Finale,” with an on-screen warning at the beginning that “viewer discretion is advised.” In past interviews, “The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke has said that “Homeland’s” rise and many flaws were always meant to reflect Trump’s journey to the White House, his misdeeds behavior and the legal case against him.
It’s yet another case of creative intentions going in one direction and businesses going in the opposite direction, trying to protect themselves from outside criticism that might come from the plethora of works of fiction they themselves fund. I’d like to believe that most people are capable of consuming and dissecting fiction and any parallels to real life, just like normal adults, but the recent pop culture discourse (and the reactionary changes studios have made to save face) Too often we are told that is not the case. I guess we should just be happy that The Boys season 4 finale wasn’t delayed and ruined in post-production.
The Boys may return for a fifth and final season in 2026, and while some cast members have been pushing for a big-screen finale, we’re hoping that doesn’t happen.
