Since its release in 2018, My Hero Academia has been one of the most watched anime in the world. Nearly six years and seven seasons later, the show has taken on a life of its own, branching out into mediums such as video games and movies. There are many factors that make this superhero-filled teen show so popular, but one of the most compelling is how the show continues to mature among viewers.

In an interview with GameSpot during Anime Expo 2024, Izuku Midoriya, the voice actor of Deku, shared their thoughts on the show’s progress. Yamashita specifically talked about the events of Season 6, when Deku decided it was safer to stop All For One on his own than with his classmates.
“Season 6 was definitely an emotional roller coaster, especially in the second half,” Yamashita said. “After the Battle of Shigaraki, their goal was ‘All For One’. This means that he [Deku] Having to fight alone created a new aspect in him. because of him [has to] In that lonely battle, facing everything alone.
Kenta Miyake (voiced by Toshiki Yagi, also known as All Might) echoed Yamashita’s sentiments and shared a bit about how he changed after All Might lost his powers in a battle with All Might in Season 3 His opinion on the image of Japan’s number one hero.
“There [were] There were some internal changes that took place after the All For One game,” Miyake said. “He [All Might] Lost all power and basically became [a] The psychological change for Izuku’s supervisor was significant, as his tone ended up being slightly calmer than at the beginning.
This change can be seen again and again throughout the show. While All Might remains a key character in the series, he takes more of a backseat role, helping out the show’s younger heroes.
Even though My Hero Academia is one of the most popular anime out there, it can’t last forever. Earlier this month, series creator Kohei Horikoshi announced that the manga the show is based on will end in August, meaning the anime may end sooner than we expected. Yamashita said they had “mixed feelings” about the revelation:
“I have very mixed feelings because there was that slogan at the beginning: This is a story until [Deku] Become the best hero ever. I’ve always wanted to know who is the best hero [really] This question has been on my mind, and on the minds of people who read and watch the show, since the first season began. Now it’s like, ‘Oh, the end is coming. Will it really be revealed? Do we know exactly who the best hero is?
Although it’s unclear how Izuku will become the best hero and earn the title, as Midoriya’s voice and a fan of the series, Yamashita is “looking forward” to finding out.
Miyake added that he was sad to learn that the manga is coming to an end. But even though the series is coming to an end, Miyake said he respects Horikoshi for “putting everything in”.
“The author did a great job and basically did everything he wanted to do. When I heard the news, I was kind of happy. Of course, I’d like to see it continue, but the fact is that this epic story keeps going. Going down in itself is amazing,” Miyake said.
Even though the manga has ended, both actors have some ideas for how they’d like to see the anime play out (although some are more likely than others). Yamashita would like to see another pairing team up with Deku and Froppy, mainly because the two haven’t formed a proper team-up since the USJ battle in Season 1. .
Issey Miyake said that they “really loved seeing All Might and Sir Nighteye fighting side by side.” Although they are said to have collaborated, they have never appeared in the show. Although the series Can If fans were given a quick flashback, this scene likely wouldn’t have happened, as Nighteyes died after the events of Season 4.
Still, My Hero Academia has a lot of stories to tell. Just recently, it was reported that the animation will launch another movie called “My Hero Academia: You’re Next”, which is adapted from the classic line “All Might”. As of now, the anime has not announced an official ending date.
