How do you keep a polystyrene foam wig head still while styling a wig? It kept slipping and falling.

    hello!

This answer depends on several factors, such as what type of wig you are wearing.

Here are some solutions to solve the problem:

If the wig stand itself is stable but the wig tips keep falling off the wig stand:

You may need to increase the size of the wig stand or reduce the size of the hole at the bottom of the wig head. A taller or thicker rod on which the wig head is placed can help. You should also check the bottom of the wig head to see the condition of the bottom hole: Is the wig head old? Is the Styrofoam in and around the edges of the holes worn or squashed? If so, it would be helpful to retire the wig head just for display/storage and get a new one for styling, as that is common with this type of material, or you could try filling it with another material (foam clay) to narrow the hole again may work for this).

If the wig is not attached to a stable base or stand:

This depends on the type of stand you use. I find that a tripod or other taller stand works well (I use a dress metal stand, which is basically a vertical tube with legs for stability), although a tabletop stand is often convenient. If you use a desktop stand, make sure it’s stable on whatever surface you’re using it on, and consider adding weight to the bottom to help keep it in place. If using a clip-on stand, make sure it is securely clamped to the edge of a table or other surface so it doesn’t wobble while you work. Swing is your enemy.

If the wig head is most likely to move when the wig is long:

Use the tips above and be careful with longer and heavier wigs. Make sure the wig itself is securely fastened, and consider placing your long hair on a table or other surface to handle the extra weight when that part of the wig is not being worked on/the hair is not needed to hang freely.

I hope this helps! Good luck:]
