What material do you recommend for jjba gyro Zepellis straps? I don’t want it to look too cartoony, but I can’t get to metal or anything like that
hello!
I think there are several ways to solve this problem.
I recommend using leather or faux leather for the belt itself. If you want a metallic look, you can buy one.
For studs, you can buy studs that are used to make belts, or, for a cheaper option, use sticky eyes, half-pearls, or small cabochon studs that you draw. I will use rhinestone glue to secure them.
When it comes to buckles, you have a few options. The cheapest is craft/EVA foam or sheet plastic cut to shape. Fortunately, the hand design is fairly flat, so you can simply cut the shape out of thin material and glue it to the surface of the faux buckle. I’ll hide a real clasp underneath. If you have access to resin casting and mold making, sculptures cast in resin will work well, although this will cost more money and require more skill. If you can use 3D printing, you can also 3D print the clasp. Search around to see if anyone has already documented and used the service for it, or model your own service.
To complete the clasp, there are also a few options. Regular metal craft paint may look a little tacky, but if you want a more matte metallic look, it’s a cheap and easy option. A very shiny metallic look option is car wrap vinyl, which adheres to the surface and shrinks to fit a heat gun and provides an almost mirror finish. For something of this size, it’s also worth considering painting the surface and then buffing the chrome nail powder in whatever color your specific color scheme requires. This produces a very realistic metallic look, but tends to work best on small surfaces. If you have problems, try mixing it with a little varnish or some glue, or use it over a slightly sticky glue. If the color scheme you’re using allows, you can also use Rub n Buff, a wax-based product used to color furniture and upholstery to give a realistic metallic look, but it usually comes in “natural” metallic colors rather than Not, say, bright Jojo green.
I hope this helps! Good luck:]
