Sony’s upcoming live shooter Concord will launch on PS5 and PC next month. Concord is hosting two betas (more like demo sessions since it’s so close to launch) ahead of the full launch, with the first beta now underway. It’s a good way to gauge the level of public excitement, and frankly, it doesn’t look good on PC.
According to SteamDB, which tracks all kinds of interesting details and data, the Concord beta set to be completed today has attracted only 1,124 When it launched a few days ago, on July 12th, the number of concurrent players dropped rapidly. Chapter 933 The next day, then 630 July 14th.
Now, we need to consider a lot of factors. For example, this beta is only available to players who pre-ordered the game or have an active PlayStation Plus Extra subscription. We also don’t know how many console players there are, so it could do better on Sony’s machine. The next beta will definitely be open to everyone, so we can probably expect stronger numbers.
It’s also worth noting that those who pre-ordered the game got not one, but five Offering themselves and their friends beta code should bring in more players.
This is also ominous, because until the beta goes live, only those who pre-order the game will have access. However, just days before the beta went live, Sony announced that PS Plus Extra subscribers would also be able to play, sparking speculation that pre-order numbers were weak and Sony was worried there wouldn’t be enough people to fill the servers.
As for the overall response, it has been mixed. For the most part, people seemed to think the beta was okay, but there was nothing that stood out or really grabbed their attention. With Concord set for full release on August 20, Sony and developer Firewalk Studios are very hopeful that the next open beta (July 18-21) will attract even more players.
