- Samurai Champions, which aired in 2004, is a groundbreaking anime directed by Shinichiro Watanabe. The play seamlessly blends historical drama and hip-hop elements to create a unique visual and musical experience that has attracted both anime and hip-hop fans and won praise at home and abroad.
- Director Watanabe, who is known for his deep appreciation of music, selected four famous hip-hop artists for this project: Nujabes, a rare music producer who shook up the scene with lo-fi hip-hop and later gained recognition at home and abroad. Countless followers; fat jon, who has been active as a core member of Five Deez since the 2000s and has also released albums produced by Nujabes; Force of Nature, a team consisting of KZA and DJ KENT, who has remixed numerous artists and A strong presence as a top runner in the national and international club scenes; Tsutchie has been at the forefront as a track producer for SHAKKAZOMBIE since the birth of Japanese hip-hop.
- In 2004 they released four CDs for Samurai Champloo: “Departure”, which included tracks by Nujabes and fat jon, as well as the opening theme “battlecry/Nujabes feat”. “Shing02” and the ending song “Song of the Four Seasons/MINMI”; “masta”, which includes tracks by FORCE OF NATURE and Tsuutchie; “Impression”, which includes tracks by Nujabes, fat jon and FORCE OF NATURE, as well as the insert song “who’s Theme/MINMI”; and “Playlist”, featuring Tsutchie’s tracks. These CDs were once a hit, but have since disappeared from the market and become sought-after collectibles.
- In 2022, the four albums were re-released on vinyl and became a huge hit, with combined sales of the four albums exceeding 30,000 copies.
- Now, on the 20th anniversary of the television broadcast, the CDs have finally been reissued in paper sleeves.
