Monad Testnet-2 circulation is in line with the broader trend released by the blockchain project for Mainnet in 2025, and Crypto has adopted a record year with Bitcoin exceeding $100,000 in February.
Announce Monad TestNet-2!
TestNet-2 is an experimental environment for enhanced validator preparation for the mainnet, which is for the validator rather than for the user’s experimental environment.
A total of 100-150 participants were selected. Starting in late May, the T-2 is expected to last for 10 weeks. pic.twitter.com/ias3kbv8le

The focus on validator preparation in TestNet-2 reflects Monad’s emphasis on decentralization, which highlights key challenges among the three elements of blockchain in a similar effort by Shardeum in 2023 – balancing scalability, security and decentralization.
MONAD’s 100-150 validator is used to testNet-2 to reflect the strategies used by other layer 1 chains (such as Ethereum), and Ethereum (Ethereum) uses test networks such as Ropsten to simulate mainnet conditions before major upgrades.

Starting in late May, the 10-week duration of TestNet-2 is likely to be released in early August, in line with community forecasts for the third quarter launch.
MONAD’s parallel operation of TestNet-1 and TestNet-2 ensures user continuity, a strategy similar to Solana’s use of DEVNET and TESTNET environments to separate user and validator testing.
The experimental nature of TestNet-2 is based on Monad’s early success, with its first TestNet trading one billion deals in April, marking strong network performance.
Monad’s focus on validator training may increase its appeal to institutional adoption, especially since Bank of America now faces fewer restrictions on handling customer crypto assets after the recent OCC rule changes.
TestNet-2’s timing coincides with the May 7 Pectra upgrade of Ethereum, which improves scalability and static restrictions, potentially enhancing competition between layer 1 blockchains.
